Really we are desperate aren't we. SAKURA TAISEN never came to the west? That's the best we can do? The DC didn't need a game like SAKURA TAISEN because most of the AAA games made for DC was released in the west. That was never the case for the saturn. Which is why they needed all the AAA they can for that system over here. But they didn't release SAKURA TAISEN, Never had a proper SONIC game, most of the genesis games didn't have Saturn sequels, and SOA was hindered from releasing a lot of their titles for it like EC.

Now were listing games from other parties. Yet again proving the point that Sega didn't have enough AAA games for the saturn so were using third parties now....and what makes this laughable is half the games listed were bullcrap... :))

Now I'm going to enter into this argument a bit cautiously, because the Saturn is very near and dear to my heart.

However, it is very commonly recognized by just about anyone you care to ask, that as far as the west is concerned, Sega dropped the ball big time from 1995 - 1999. There were some fantastic games made during this time period (not least were those made by your namesake), but on the whole, it was a very disappointing time. The quality of the games were fine, but the quantity was awful. Sega had how many releases in 1998 for the Saturn? Five? Six?

Winter Heat 1998, House of the Dead, Burning Rangers, Deep Fear (not in America), Rayearth, Shining Force, Panzer Dragoon...that's all I can think of.

And Sega went over a year (Summer 1998 - Sept 1999) without releasing anything AT ALL in the west that I can remember.

Many of the titles in your list aren't Sega games, either. I thought this argument was about whether Sega's state today (keeping some of the best software exclusive to Japan) is comparable to Sega in the Saturn years. How does Command & Conquer or Duke Nukem help your case?

He knows all that but he will keep insisting that the saturn is a great system and try to rewrite history usually to get novice gamers on his side. He's done it again by hijacking this topic into a frigging Saturn flame war.

I ask you this...How many sequels do you hear from fans want made that first appeared on MD?
How many games do you hear people want to see of sequels of games from the DC era..

Now how many sega fans do you hear demand a sequel from the saturn era of games..Guess what? Not many..all you will get is three PANZER DRAGOON, NIGHTS and BURNING RANGERS. Prephaps two others. But that is way way less compared to the games people want to see return from the MD and DC era.
And that is the point. Geez you make logical sense but you get fanbot zealots like ben and TA disrupting the forum with stupid illogical nonsense and try to disceredit people when it doesn't fit their world view. We all know the saturn had a weak showing in the west. We all know the saturn had the least ammount of good games for it..its not even a debate its a frigging fact. You know it and  i know it as does everyone else...why are we entertaining some idiots in this forum with this, i dont know...

List these titles people want to see sequel too from the DC that came from SEGA Japan  . Its not that many other than usual calls for Skies II, Shenmue III (a game which started life was a Saturn title) REZ and maybe Space Channel 5 III , F355 III . The rest of the games have had sequels


Not that people asking for sequel is any sort of judgment on a system or its games line up .

The Saturn had more titles than the DC I think you'll find in the West  and I'll argue that it had the better number of Good to decent games too . You've quite clearly never owned a Saturn or gave it much time , but its had a good line up and quite a lot of good games, more than the DC or N64 . Not that numbers mean anything . Its way more than the saturn that's the point.
SHENMUE came out as a DC title. Never released for the saturn as an actual game so its hardly counts.

For example when the logo of resident evil 6 came out many people was already saying bad things about the game without even seen a screenshot, and they did this because they didnt like resident evil 5. The people i am talking about are the ones that think like this "I didnt like your previous game so when you released another one i will say bad things about it".
Now you can say that this kind of people dont exist but in my opinion yes they are unfortunately and i believe that the fact that you didnt like a game doesnt mean you have to talk bad things about the next one without knowing nothing about it.

The only bad RE6 talk I remember that early was because the logo looks like a giraffe getting a blowjob.

Jaja yeah thats an example XD. But there was also people saying "Capcom doesnt do good games anymore, dont buy these game problably is going to be full with DLC...", and those kind of comments. My point is that the past games of a company shouldnt make pay they future games.

In this case it wasn't though, Colonial Marines was complete shit. And quite honestly, i'm glad the developers and publishers were criticized for this mess. Those critics saved me a lot of money in the end because i thought twice before purchasing that one.

Quick summary;

- Establishing a new team within Atlus that are solely responsible for the localization of SEGA's Japanese centric titles. Titles that still have massive worldwide appeal ie. Sonic the Hedgehog, Monkey Ball etc would still be allocated to SEGA's Western branches. Significant investment would be needed here and I would place Atlus in direct control of this new division, as their expertise should lend themselves well to establishing a franchise for most of these titles.

- Set up a new service similar to uPlay and Origin but solely with SEGA's titles. The titles would still be made available via Steam but people would be able to purchase a subscription service that opens up SEGA's massive back catalogue. Again some investment would be needed in this service but short term wise either a minor loss or minor profits is expected. The goal is to have a long term revenue stream established in a few years time.

- Establish a new team in SEGA Networks that are responsible for producing console/handheld version of their successful mobile apps. These titles would be produce to be wholly independent of any form of microtransactions and stand own their own two feets as either as cheap download only or retail titles. I would pick the following three as the first to be produced;

Retail
- Chain Chronicle (3DS and Vita)
- Kingdom Conquest (Vita)
Digital
- Sonic Dash (eshop / PSN / iOS / Android)

- Unify the development teams and or share expertise between the three regions. In this case I would be behind the idea of getting people from the Creative Assembly or Relic and passing their know how to the development staff at SEGA Japan.

- Finally with the profits generated from SEGA's other titles I would attempt a vanity project every year or two. This would be a title that is produced not simply for profits but to keep the SEGA brand in the upper echelons of brand status. This should a new IP and if successful, can be added to the portfolio of established SEGA series that get sequels such as Sonic, Yakuza etc. This is of course dependent on if the company as a whole have been producing steady profits.

And keep everything else ticking as it is.

Those critics were justify yes, but what i say is that we shouldnt pass those critics to the next Alien, being sketical is one thing and already throw shit because you had a bad experience is another one.

Good ideas..some of them are close to what Sega are doing(making handheld versions of their digital games) but others of course they aren't doing.

Problem was some were criticizing it before they even played the game..which is something common when it comes to Sega and the anti sega zealots out there..they just got lucky on this one...but most of the time they aren't..

I'm skeptical about the new Alien, who wouldn't be? After the shit fest that was Colonial Marines, you have to be skeptical.

Do you have any examples? I mean, i criticize the shit out of Sonic games because it's warranted. As someone who used to be a huge Sonic fan, i've been nothing but disappointed with Sonic Teams lack of effort on their part.

If you were around the sega related forums back in 2003 onwards you saw all kinda zealots coming out of the woodwork attacking Sega games. Many people here have experienced it themselves in one form or another whether it was from fans or zealots on professional game websites. I recall when half the Segabits staff was part of the Seganerds team and some website started to attack sega and sega nerds directly. And then we all came to that site and had a....little debate...good times those were....

Oh yeah, when I was at SEGA Nerds it was a site called 'old-wizard' that was ran by a troll Nintendo fanboy. His site used to be called 'Old Wizard' or something, it is now down though.
