Yes, we still have a forum.
Well, now we know why Phantasy Star Portable 2 never made it past a million like it was predicted.
Most people when downloading games they do it like a supermarket visit. They grab a bunch of games and play them a bit. If they were to spend money they wouldn't buy them all. A download does not equal a lost sale. Yeah, in some cases it does. But generally no..Still, more than 4million is a HUGE number.
I think all videogame companies should start to use activation codes on every game, A code written on the inside of the case/manual that activates the game. Sure some would find a way around it but not nearly as many. What a shame about Phantasy Star Portable 2... Seriously.
That used to be the standard for PC games, but everyone would just use KeyGens or something to play it anyway. It would work a little better if you had to register online, but even DRM like that gets worked over very quickly.Pirates are always gonna pirate it seems, I honestly think the only way to fight it is to drop prices so that it's not even worth pirating.
So long as they make it a chore to find a way around it, be easier to just buy the game.

If I buy a game and spend $50 on it, then have to sign into a special network every time I want to play it as well and register it online and go through mandatory updates/patches etc compared to downloading a torrent and playing it for free, the Pirate option looks much more tempting.
