I can just keep my Dreamcast and play my 100+ games.

360 emulation is dodgy at times. I suggest a regular Xbox. They cost 50 dollars. You can even turn it into a media center. Cheap.

I don't see the point.. Then again, I actually buy legacy systems and games so I don't share the same mentality as you do. Maybe when I get married I think she won't like having gaming consoles all over, so I'll get some collections for the PS3 and give everything to a friend or two, so that we play together sometimes. But for now I love playing older games. They have something that doesn't quite translate to new consoles. And playing them on something other than their original console feels iffy.

Naw man! You can keep your stuff even when married. Now I'm not married myself, but my GF and I have lived together for almost 5 years and things are great despite my sizable collection. Here's what I do: have a dedicated room or space (mine is our computer room) and claim it as the gaming room. If you have too much for the space, put what can't fit or what you don't use as much in storage and take it out when you need it. As for the lady, butter her up (figuratively) by taking her to dinner and buying her flowers right before you make a noticeable purchase and her gaming annoyance will be nullified.

Oh yeah, and despite her not being a gamer at all, I've gotten her to love the 360 via Netflix. I'll bet if I sold it, she'd miss it just as much as I would. lol

You could always get a 360, which is Backwards Compatible with JSRF, and then you could get REZ and all the others you were intereste in as well.

lol, I've thought about it, but I really want to go down to one console and unless Yakuza is announced for 360. . .lol.

Yeah, I got a regular Xbox it is my "JSRF" console. I hate having it just for that.

Yeah, that is kind of close to my thinking.  Bringing people over and have them see 5 consoles is kind of uncool.

I've centralized my gaming to one room.  I live by myself so it would be kind of odd to have another room for older consoles. Plus I got rid of a ton of junk. You have multiple consoles and controllers and accessories and you have all this crap in your closets. I just got tired of it.  On a personal level it was really time for me to move on.  Change is good.

My Dreamcast collection is my pride and joy.
I may buy a couple of these games again, but I don't see myself selling off any of the ones I already have.

I was talked into selling my Genesis back in the day to get some cash to put towards a new system. I still regret that one. A few of the games I had still aren't out for download, and I'm one of those guys that likes having the physical media.  It looks nice, you've got the manuals/packaging that usually have some pretty nice artwork, plus it gives me more of a sense of actual ownership.  It's kinda dumb, but I feel more like I own something if I can hold it in my hands.
It's the samre reason that I still buy CD's instead of just digital downloads of music. It takes up a stupid amount of space, but it's just the way I am.

I think because of all of the re-releases that most Dreamcast games will become dirt cheap and likely remain there.

The main reasons I would recommend keeping yours would be that (unless you have an older model) you can just burn any game that you want at any time (some exceptions like D2 and Maken X) and that selling it might just make you regret it sometime down the line. Another reason against not selling it is that it will not bring in much money. It does not hurt to just pack it up in the back of your closet or something, you know?

Gotta get new friends! First thing people see when entering our apartment is 5 consoles. My friends think it's cool, and anybody who would ever talk shit about it upon entering would be told to leave.

I have quite a few CDRs just like I do for Saturn. Actually Shenmue is the only Dreamcast actual game I have after selling them in my last ebay wave.

heh, I had my Saturn next to my PS3 and then the DC, PS2 and Xbox all together.  You would see 5 consoles walking into my place just like your apartment.  I don't care too much what company thinks it was just time to say goodbye to a few of those.  I would like to sell everything and get a slim PS3 if they added BC, I wouldn't give up my 80GB phat for that reason.

I have the 3 current-gen consoles, plus a Saturn and a Dreamcast.  I keep hoping someday I'll get all the Master System games I left behind when I sold it in the 90's, and For me there are Genesis games everywhere, so I can play most of the ones I want anyway.

When I sold my Dreamcast, I ended up buying one back later.

If you are worried about what your friends think and you change yourself to impress them, you need new friends. Come as you are.

I agree, I don't have a problem with that.  Actually, my friends hate me and want me to die so fuck them.  I'm not going to go into a lot of crap, but I lived out of the gaming glory of the 90's a decade too long and I'm not happy with the circumstances of my life as a consequence.  My getting rid of my consoles is supposed to be an act of personal growth and re-prioritizing my life but it still hurts. It's far less about what anyone thinks than it is letting go of the past. I got rid of a crap ton of collectibles (non-gaming, too) in the last couple of years that were stored away in closets.  I know there are people older than me that are still avid gamers, but I'm pretty sure it was a time for a change in my case.

I have a PS3, a Dreamcast and a Saturn all plugged in. Then I have several others in boxes ready to play (the cables are already plugged into the TV, I got one of those multicables).
My friends think it's all awesome. Still I do realize the immaturity of their age.. If they ever complain well fuck'em lol

Whenever I think I have to let go of somethings, I simply do it. No questions asked.

IT sounds to me like getting rid of your Dreamcast is hinging a lot more on a very personal reason rather than value/convenience etc, which means we can't really advise you on what to do.

I'm sure you'll come up with the right decision yourself, and if not, well at least you can emulate Dreamcast games now right?  :P
