Yeah plus the quality seems worse in the dub as well. Still there are some people who can read perfewctly fine but struggle to read quickly so dubs are a good alternative for that. And frankly even I find it annoying when the subs are too fast and I have to pause or rewind just to figure out what they're saying, or too distracted reading than watching and miss bits out.
For action anime, usually most people could read fast enough.
But for anime which really needs details explained (like Death Note or Case Closed), it does lead to problems.
I will admit, I do wonder if I grew up with an unbias worship of Sega myself. Like I knew there was a Sega vs Nintendo thing going on but it's not like the competitiveness was as severe as it was in UK than it was in US.
Wasn't UK more like PC vs Console than console wars?
