Oooh, this is nice.

Strong debut for Shogun 2 and Yakuza 4. FM 2011 doing a little re-entry. Good, very good.

Shogun 2 is all the more impressive because these stats don't include D2D and Steam sales etc. Yakuza is disappointing considering how good the series is and Homefront is so poor and charts at no.1 because it is a shooter.

I heard Homefront AND Dragon Age 2 were both big disappointments... But you know...

Shame to see Yakuza 4 so low...

Shouldn't Virtua Tennis 4 be released in May in Japan?

But yes, very weak period for SEGA, and future games for 2011 aren't that impressive..

Yakuza 4, at least in the UK, has followed a similar sales pattern to Yakuza 3 for the most part so I suppose that may please SEGA (And the notion cut content would harm Yakuza 3's sales massively, at least in the UK, has been proven false) although I do find it a bit of a missed opportunity, it's obvious fans of the previous title have bought Yakuza 4, a good marketing campaign may have helped it gain even more of an audience.

And welcome! Hope you enjoy your stay and all that.

I am surprised Yakuza 4 is on the list at all. If anything, this is good news IMO.

I think the number in the title could be hurting the sales a bit however. I know I am always very cautious of getting into franchises that have a number in them usually. For instance, I never saw any of the Die Hard films because I want to see them in order.

I can imagine The Yakuza of the Dead (Which is what OF THE END's English name should be, for sure) would do a lot better just on this.

Yeah, I agree with your anus, wait... no yeah that's right.

I really surprised to see Yakuza 4 on that list. Given that it's the fourth installation in the series, and the Yakuza franchise isn't super popular. Though, if it's a new game it has to have a peak sale some point in time.

Thanks for the info about Yakuza. I've just asked for it in the comments section of the main page.

It seems Yakuza's final charpter will sell as much as Yakuza 4.

Sonic Generations figures are in. The xbox 360 version debuted at number 6, selling about 98,000 in the United States in it's first four days. The playstation 3 version debuted at number 15, selling about 72,000 copies. For comparative purposes, Sonic Colors debuted at roughly 60,000. Even Sonic and Mario debuted slightly lower in America; some 97,000.

The question will be whether or not the game is front loaded. Traditionally, Sonic games tend to actually do better the second through about the eighth week on the market, after a weak debut, and then sell slowly but surely for years to come. I tend to believe, with the onset of the Christmas season, and the boost from the next Olympic title, this could possibly be Sonics most successful game in America since the original Adventure.

I'm eager to see how the Olympics game performs in the next few weeks, and to see how Generations does in the usually stronger Euro market. I imagine Segas accountants are ecstatic right about now.
