But Sony's hit rhythm game series, PATAPON, also use black silhouettes and not more colorful than FtM/RR.

They used black silhouettes yes but they gave their characters distinct and indearing shapes that gave them sense of identity.

For example let's compare Team Fortress Classic and Team Fortress 2. You may notice that the mercenaries in TF2 look rather different to the mercs in TFC, this is because when VALVe designed the TF2 mercs to connect art direction to gameplay. The characters are designed so players can quickly recognise an enemy class even with lack of context.

A PDF all about it here: https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/apps/valve/2008/GameFest08_ArtInSource.pdf

Patapon and FtM/RR are games that utilize black silhouettes but Patapon uses distinct art style to make their characters more recognisable as individuals while to me FtM/RR simply has black figures with some colourful clothing to distinguish them but not much to identify with.

So yeah, that's what Sega's microgame series is lacking. More sense of identity over black silhouettes.

Well, I have to agree now.
The black silhouettes of these little creatures designs do indeed more memorable and fun to look at than just black silhouettes of normal human.

If FtM/RR characters were a bit more cartoony (Perhaps like Jet Set Radio) and their black featureless bodies consist of two white dots for eyes and a mouth, they'd perhaps stand out more as characters.

There is other SEGA franchise in rhythm game that has more "stand out" characters, but the need of pheriperal to play the game made it hard to get more sequels.

Ooooh! A microgame spin-off set in the world of Samba De Amigo would work well! Whenever it be Samba and his friends or if Yuji Uekawa brought that colourful vibrancy to a brand new microseries game.

Indeed. I also think Samba De Amigo's characters are more interesting than Super Monkey Ball's characters.
Samba De Amigo's characters are as unique as those in Warioware microgames series.
And this is coming from me who loves Super Monkey Ball franchise very much.

And since your nickname is Monkey 🙈, now I kinda curious ... Who's your favorite SEGA monkey?

He indeed showed up in SEGA's game (Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine) so yeah I guess that's counted.

I'll tell you a bit of a truth...
When I was a child I always thought monkeys were playful creatures and were my favourate animal. When I started out on the internet at my pre-teen age I went by "Mystic Monkey" because I liked monkeys. Even making my main Sonic OC with the name.

Now I find monkeys troublesome, aggressive, disease-ridden and more favoured to other animals like grey squirrels or rabbits. But because I've been known as "Mystic Monkey" for so long it's a bit too late for a change of identity.

I mean, I don't "hate" monkeys, I mean, I still like them, just monkeys aren't exactly native to Britain.
