While he mostly done comedy movies, he can still achieve a wide range of acting.
Indeed. He has been nominated for Golden Globes for his roles in The Truman Show and Man on the Moon afterall.

I think fans, or at least "just me" am worried that when it comes to Amy Rose, there is two possible outcomes.
1. They make Amy like how she was in the early games, in which there will be backlash from feminists who think Amy should be a strong and Independent woman because political and progressive ideals.
2. They make Amy a strong independent woman to the point she is a degree Mary Sue and Sonic fans will complain she's making the main characters look pathetic.

they'd rather have Amy meet in the middle. Be an asset to the team and at least have some insecuriities or challenges to overcome than pandering to make her this perfect heroic figure to put Sonic asside for.
Fear not. According leak from MyTimeToShineHello, Amy is kinda in the middle.
She's strong enough to not let her get kidnapped but also will develop feeling for Sonic.
Her and Sonic's interaction would be like a romantic action comedy.
Of course not every fans like romcom, we can't satisfy everyone afterall.
Well, it's still an early draft, it could still change (especially if there are requests from the producers). For better or for worse.
there is. But there are some slim pickings that I doubt Sega/Paramount will choose, such as Mephiles or Infinite. And making a brand-new villain such as The Buyer would be a risky move, especially given the Buyer didn't do much.
Well ... using human character as villain is cheaper.
No need to do CGI for them.
I kinda understand the reason why.
I know, it's just, the third movie had more emphasis of Dr. Robotnik's death than the second movie.
Don't get me wrong, as long as Jim Carrey wants to continue the role of Dr. Robotnik then Sega/Paramount should make the most of him.
But at the same time, we had Dr. Robotnik as the main villain for three movies now, so why not give the main villain role to someone else for a change?
Because Jim Carrey as a big star sells the movie.
I joined Jim Carrey fans group in the facebook and they're always enthusiastic about Sonic movies because Jim is in it.
If Jim isn't in it, they're not interested in the movie anymore.
Idris Alba and Keanu Reeves fans are kinda divided.
May be because they're not really showing up in the movie, just their voices.
In conclusion, do not underestimate Jim Carrey's fans influence on the movie's success. If they are gone, then the movie needs a big superstar (who shows up in the movie, not just his/her voices) to fill the hole. Otherwise I doubt it could surpass Sonic 3 movie's success.
I know you said you don't like the Ultron approach, but why not Neo Metal Sonic with an army of Metal Sonics? Way I see it, it can be more like Terminator in vibes. A fun somewhat campy mid-80s action film.
It's just personal taste.
I kinda hate Neo Metal Sonic's design, prefer the usual look.
I don't have problem with Terminator in vibes.
I just hate that the big bad boss Metal Sonic's and Ultron's design be used as merely thugs to be punched by heroes.
They should have use another design ... Silver Sonic design may be.
