Why would Sega green light a game so similar to Vanquish and so soon?

Is it really THAT similar though? The only thing in common so far is that you kill robots.

From the press release it isnt much like Vanquish at all, it has a focus on multiplayer co-op while Vanquish was strictly single player. Has a big focus on 'human drama' like Yakuza where as Vanquish was very light on story.

I would like to know more about the game though... considering the first impressions were pretty poor.

After watching the trailer again I am slightly more interested. I am really really hoping this is like Yakuza in that it is basically an RPG that feels like an action game.

I think the robot designs are actually extremely cool and I like how slow they seem. I really miss games with slow enemies, game developers should take note! Fast running enemies are not scary, but creepy soulless robots that march in large groups totally are.

That'd be sweet if he was. Like Gigalo Joe:

Joking. Though I'd love for some twists to the trailer, perhaps more than meets the eye?

Why did I suddenly have a flash back to the Harrison Ford film Blade Runner?

I stumbled across the trailer again on UK Resistance, and while reading them bash the game I finally saw what made the black guy attack the white guy.

The stupid white guy threw a gernade in the 2nd floor, even though the black guy said he'll handle it. This in turn put the black guy at risk. So it makes the madness look more rationale.

Though the acting and graphic still sucks.

Great game, very underrated...
He didn't even get the tenth of the deserved success, and paradoxically two of the reasons for the poor sales were the mediocre cover of the game, and the bad (sometimes unmotivated) reputation of SEGA at that time ... too bad, I would have seen well a sequel!

Yeah, doesn't have to be right now but hopefully we could get a sequel at least at it's 10th anniversary on year 2022 later.

SEGA’s Daisuke Sato would like to remaster Binary Domain, Yakuza Kenzan, and Ishin

Quote
Sato, who directed 2012’s Binary Domain, said he personally would like to see it remastered and in doing so he would “make a few changes” and “redo some parts”.
Sato also cited the success of Ghost of Tsushima as a good reason for releasing remastered versions of the samurai era Yakuza Kenzan and Ishin in the West.
