More (fake?) material to speculate with...

http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/05/15/shining_game/

At least it correlates with the recent Valkyria Team & titel overarching rumour...

It seems like there is far to much info and original pictures for it to be fake... It may be but they have gone to some serious lengths to convince people it's real if it is fake...

Quote
The game's battle system is called "Concerto." This "strategy active real time battle system" is said to be evolved from Sakura Wars' ARMS system and Valkyria Chronicle's BLiTZ system. You make use of swords, bows and magic in a battle system that places importance on character cooperation -- hence the name "concerto."

This makes me very interested!

Anything related to the BLiTZ system is instant win. I agree though about the excess of spank-able ass, it's distracting.

^^
no need for sakura taisen to continue, i mean really that's it for the franchise!
the team need to focus on great RPGs with world-wide appeal.

Killed Valkryia Chronicles???!
i thought you have never been a fan yourself! you hate great RPGs like Skies and Val
anyway, how they killed it exactly? by bringing it to PSP?
yeah i would kill for a Console VC but also VCIII is a must anyway.

in my eyes the new 7th dragoon is looking better than the original.
better graphics and presentation and better character design.
also it seems that there is an animated attacks for the enemies ... thank god!

Storm you're full of baka chan crap!

Sakura Taisen is over because the fad is over, just like one day the Vocaloid fad will be over. (What does Sawada san have to do with this?)

Valkyria Chronicles is far from dead... VC3 was quite widely regarded as just as good as the first game. (What does Sawada san have to do with this?)

7th Dragon 2 looks, if anything much better than the original... The enemies are real 3D models now and not just 2D art that shakes about... It looks a ton better.
(What does Sawada san have to do with this?)

Finally, the Shining series has been dead for years, if this game turns out to be ANYTHING like the supposed 'leaked' info it'll be 100% better then anything thats come out of the Shining series in the last decade! (Thanks Sawada, you're awesome!)

What.  The Sakura Taisen series produced some really great games.  Calling it a fad is a bit harsh.

Yes, Sakura Taisen WAS a great series. (So are those Project Diva games apparently) but that isnt the point.

In the 90's Saura Taisen was massively popular not just videogames but TVs series, Anime movies, plays and all sorts. It was a huge fad much like that Vocaloid Miku thing is in Japan today but the fad has warn off. The Sakura Taisen series isn't worth bringing back. I believe Valkyria Chronicles is a good replacement though... A good Shining Force could be too if this is real.

You are the baka here ;p

There are a lot of rumors about Sega discontinuing the Valkyria series since the poor sales of Valkyria 3. It was not good sales for Sega. Also, the producer of the series already told us they are not developing another one any time soon.

 Look this:

Phantasy Star team(original series)→ Sakura Taisen team → Valkyria team → Shining team now.

They are all from Sega CS 3, but Shining games were developed almost outside Sega. The evidences tells they are now working on that leaked new Shining title. It means no more Valkyria any time soon, no more chances to Sega develop another Sakura Taisen game any time soon.

7th Dragon is about hunting dragons; new leaked Shining game is about killing the ancient dragons from Draconia Kingdom...

I'm not saying Sawada has killed those series himself, but Sega done it.

Sawada is not awesome, so shut up Sharky ;p He is full of crap ideas. He is good at marketing, since he is from the marketing division of Sega, but he is horrible as a game creator/producer.

Sakura Taisen series are completely profiting for Sega even now. Have you seen how much Sakura Taisen pachinko machines has sold? It has made more money for Sega than Dragon Quest 9 for Square-Enix!!! Sega has just too many issues with the games from the series; it has too many copyrights to pay to others. But Sega still promoting the series, doing the musical show every year, releasing goods and cds for it everytime.

Another issue is Red Entertainment. They were bought by a Chinese company, and now nobody knows what will happen with the Sakura Taisen series, but last I've heard, their deal with Sega was that Sega was Red's primaly company to hold whatever new project they had using Sakura Taisen; if Sega refused it they were free to show the project to another company.

I'm fine with Phantasy Star series since it is now handled by another team and has no huge links with the original series and still selling very well.

Shining series was killed! Completely! Sawada tried to keep some link with the original series, but it does not works.

People got excited every time he announces a new Shining game; it got released, people only complain about everything. It's the "SHINING CYCLE", the same shit Sonic was used to.

And now Sharky is on that cycle. Good luck for you ;p

Well, if the Shining series is on the same cycle as Sonic, then perhaps there is hope yet. Sonic Generations looks awesome. Maybe one day we'll see Shining Generations and it will be what we all hope for...
Looking forward to hearing any official info about the leaked Shining title, am hoping it will be somewhat like Feather from what has been suggested so far.

On the current status of Shining series, STORM is right imo; is also shareable the judgment on Sawada, in fact I have always preferred Shimosato(obviously regard the last ten years Shining games), but is SEGA which gave him the position.

But the fact that the new game will likely be developed by the Valkyria team or even just part of it, makes me extremely confident in its final quality, maybe in SEGA have decided to honor the anniversary of the series at least on this side.

Too bad they are not going to celebrate the 20th, but Sawada is looking to celebrate "his series 10th".

On the leaked material you can see it saying "past characters from Shining series", but only the ones made by Sawada are on the images.

On that special Famitsu for Sega you can't see any character from the original series; instead, they have put Maxima on it. On the page dedicated to the series, only Sawada is interviewed and Famitsu has not made any cite about its 20th annyversary.

Sawada also said on his twitter that they don't have any other plans (apart from that ridiculous pan password to be used in Hearts) to commemorate the series 20th; lately, he said it was time to make something about "the new series 10th"...

They are going to, probably, even ignoring the games made by Shimosato and Sega AM2 and Sega Mobile.

Rumors said Sega was not sure about this new game on the PSP or NGP, yet.

This "Shining Cycle" is getting ridiculous and worse by the time. They have not made ANY really good game yet for the franchise. But I'm curious to see what will happen with this new one title, though ;p

Of course I will buy it! ;pppp

I thought Shining Tears & Shining Force EXA were quite good.
