Nintendo 3DS priced for North America, coming March
« on: January 19, 2011, 09:13:54 am »

I would have gotten it on launch for maybe 200. At 250, I rather wait and see what Sony has to show. I rather have a choice, but the 3DS looks rather.. cheap.

3DS looks alright, though I'd rather spend that $250 on a PS3, 4th gen iPod Touch or a Wii and all the SEGA games I've missed out on. Probably will pick up a used DSi for super cheap after the 3DS comes out, and then will pick up a 3DS a few years from now when THAT goes super cheap.

I always thought it wouldn't have mattered if the Dreamcast was released for 300$?

Are you holding back cause of 50?

SEGA console =/= Nintendo console with not that great of a line up. I don't see how you can compare Dreamcast, which had one of the best launch line ups to this.

I can wait till games I want come out.

The launch price seems pretty reasonable.
The multitasking abilities seem pretty cool. They've also finally gotten rid of the need for individual friend codes for each game (just the one for the system, and you don't have to worry after that).  You can see what friends are online, take notes mid game, etc....

I'll probably hold out until a must have game comes out for it, but I'm pretty sold on the device.

I'm probably going to wait for the inevitable redesign before I purchase this.

Rumor is that Sony is showing off PSP2 on the 27th. Best impress software wise and not be more than 250 bucks.

It's totally going to be more than $250.
Especially if it's as powerful as expected (ie: PS3 quality graphics).

The PSP launched at 250 and all the Nintendo fanboys would 'raid' topics saying that its too much. None of them have complained about 3DS pricing, oddly enough.

We shall see if its more than $250. I assume Sony learned their pricing lesson.

I am comparing consumer interest in a product associated with a price tag. Remember Stolar went against the board when he sold DC at 200$, the board agreed upon 300$.

So I am just thinking did he do the right thing? Cause people here are throwing a fuss over just 50$, in the day and age we live with New games retail for 70$.

200 is a better price, but tbh, the thing should be priced at 170 at most. Its a upgrade of the DS, most games look meh, some small linear games have some 'OK shadowing'. Basically looks a bit better than what PSP delivered and that is selling at 170 with profit to spare. I doubt their small 3D screens are that expensive.

This. There's no way that Nintendo isn't going to come out with an updated version that actually has a decent battery life and isn't ugly as sin a year or so from now.

Also, U.K. stores are listing the 3DS as £300 here, which is almost $500 dollars. So yeah, I want to play a new Kid Icarus game, but maybe not quite that much.

I'm not surprised. I think this thing will sell like mad.

As for the tech, I think it's impressive. No Glasses 3D graphics, return of touch screen, motion controls, wifi up the arse. It's pretty cool.

The line up looks like it's quite strong in the first 3 months or so as well.

The problem is that the online, system software sucks. That is important to me, more so than 3D.

Apparently the 3D effect is getting a large amount of testers sick, potentially this could hurt sales phenomenally, but I am expecting it to do pretty damn good.

I will get this one day, but I am not sure when. $250 is just too much for me for a handheld device, regardless if it has a good amount of stuff that I want. We all know that it will get new versions every other year and the 4-6 hour battery life expectancy is... lol, so I am in no rush.

I am honestly most excited about getting Shantae 2: Risky's Revenge for DSiWare on this more than anything. That is kind of sad.
