Why not just announce it for all 3 consoles on day one? Makes no sense unless they just started developing for other consoles after the announcement, which isn't good.

Regardless. PS3 version here I come.

Maybe it was first developed for PS3 (by SEGA Japan) and after a lot of requests from fans for a Xbox360 and Wii port they decided to make those versions too (and maybe give it to Sumo like VT3?).

But doesn't matter now, I'm happy that I will get a VT4 too and not only PS3 Users :)

Funny thing is, I was intentionally ignoring all the VT4 videos and articles because I didn't want to get all hyped up for a game that I thought I wouldn't be playing in 2011. Now with this, I have to go back and watch all the videos and read everything.

Really hoping for some crazy mini-games!

No one said VT4 on PS3 was a big deal ever, especially considering the other 20+ exclusives Sony has this year, including Yakuza 4 (which imo is a bigger deal).

VT3/VT2009 came out for all consoles. I'm not that hyped about this game, but I'm happy everyone gets to play.

Sometimes there are PR or Licensing agreements from the Platform holder to get over. Lost Planet II was announced 1st as 360 game, even though the Team were working on the PS3 version at the same time

Yeah. Probably Sony so they could have more Move stuff and gamescon

AM3 is confirmed as developer, but I hope they have some help. They are adding everything consoles can offer... wii motion plus, kinect controls, move and 3D?

Well 3D is easy, says Nagoshi.. but Kinect controls will probably take the most work. Tennis stuff on Wii/Move has been down before.

Development may have began on the PS3 but someone at Sega had to have stepped in and said that the game had to go multiplat. I mean, honestly, exclusive sports games? To the console with the smallest userbase?

Eh. Wouldn't have been smart.

Note the timing of this announcement, though....hot on the heels of Take-Two revealing their massive Top Spin 4 lineup and multiplat status. So it's very possible that the 360 and Wii versions will be rushed. I hope not...because it'll probably sell the best on these systems and it won't help the Sega brand name if they are of poor quality.

Virtua tennis is a classic, they cannot afford to mess with it's status on any platform. I really hope they put a lot of care on every version. Would be great if they managed to give the best wiimotion plus/move experience of any tenissing game.

Take-Two announced Top Spin 3 right after Virtua Tennis 3. I'm pretty sure VT3 outsold it, I expect the same thing to happen here.
