Phantasy Star Online 2 Alpha test this summer
« on: February 05, 2011, 03:59:06 pm »
Those that played PSOBB on the JP servers, those that play PSU (also on the JP servers) or those that buy physical copies of Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity have a chance of getting a code to play on PSO2 alpha test.

I find this kinda stuff racist.
What about us NA fans?
We should get a taste
never will tho
Cause I guaratee Sega will just drop a half-ass translation on, pop on a server that'll be up for a couple months than crash the sucker due to sales not being good.

Because we suffer from World of Warcrack.

I think WoW is popular all over the world, not just North America.  Also PSO2 is developed in Japan... It's not racist if they want to test it before spending money on localization.

We should give this game a chance before badmouthing it.  Still...  What is your guarantee?  What will you give up if you are wrong?

Assassins creed 2 made me build a whole new PC, so i'm really happy that i'm going to be able to play this on the highest settings.

Wow, but them giving a way the requirements allready must mean the game is allready far in production, at least I hope so :P

Edit: Oh wait, their talking specifically about the alpha

I'm not a computer whiz, so tell me, would an iMac run this game well if using boot camp and running windows?

here's the iMac I purchased back in late 2008:

PROCESSOR                 065-7619  2.66GHZ INTEL CORE 2 DUO
               MEMORY                    065-7622  4GB 800MHZ DDR2 SDRAM - 2x2GB
HARD DRIVE                065-7625  500GB SERIAL ATA DRIVE
               MODEM                     065-6633  NONE
               APPLE SOFTWARE - IWORK 08 065-7672  NONE
APPLE SOFTWARE - LOGIC EXPR 8065-7675NONE
APPLE SOFTWARE - FINAL CUT EXP   065-7674NONE
               APPLE SOFTWARE - APERTURE 2  065-7673NONE
MOUSE (FOR AOS)           065-7633  APPLE MIGHTY MOUSE
               APPLE KEYBOARD & USER'S GUIDE065-7638WIRED KYBD &  USER'S GUIDE
               COUNTRY KIT               065-7644  COUNTRY KIT,IMAC 20

I believe I can add more memory, if need be.

Dunno, depends on the specifications. If it's fairly recent, the CPU should be fine, now it depends on the graphics card...
Do you know which CPU and graphics card your iMac has?

Just posted these on the front page. You people are fast!

Minimum requirements are pretty high and this is only for the Alpha... I suspect final game might be higher still.

Sounds like it's going to be pretty beautiful graphically.

Who knows...if they improve the game graphically until the final product, it could end up with higher requirements, but with fixing bugs and optimizing the game until final product, it could also end up with lower requirements.

Anyway, I guess a good way to check if a PC could handle PSO2 is with the demo of Mass Effect 2, which has somewhat similar minimum requirements (a bit lower requirements than PSO2, but close enough...based on the requirements alone, if a PC can't handle ME2, most likely it won't be able to handle PSO2).

Mac system requirements are only for running it in Mac OS, which will probably not be supported anyway.  Bootcamp requirements should be the same as any other PC.  The hard part is trying to figure out which intel core 2 duo you have.  It only says the GHz in the system profiler, from what I can see.

I think your computer will work great.  It's better than my iMac (2006), and mine should work.

I'm debating whether I would want to play it on the Mac Mini on my TV, or the iMac in the guest room / office....  Looks like the Mac Mini has 2GB of RAM.  That may be pushing it.

The Core 2 Duo E6300 is 1.87GHz and it belongs to the first generation of Core 2 processors, any Core 2 with higher frequency, and even the Pentium Dual-Core E5000/E6000 series should be able to handle PSO2.

The problem for anyone using a Mac could be the graphics card, since usually Macs have low-end to mid-end graphics card. The first iMac that had a graphics card as good or better than the 7800GT was in the early 2008 iMac series, with the optional Geforce 8800GS. Previous iMacs used cards like the Radeon HD2400 or HD2600, which are quite a bit below the 7800GT...

Thanks for the info about the processors.  That's good news.  I guess I'll take a good look at the video cards when I get home.

I also wonder if you could play it from multiple locations, like you can with WoW.
