UK charts: Spider-Man 2 enters at No.1 , Super Mario Wonder at No.2, Sonic No.4

The latest charts are now in from the largest gaming market in Europe, the United Kingdom. It was always going to be a great week for new releases as Spider-Man 2, Super Mario Wonder, and Sonic Superstars all released, vying for gamers’ attention. It seems as though Sony’s Spider-Man 2 came out the winner, entering the charts at the coveted top spot. Spider-Man 2 was followed by the wonderful Super Mario Wonder, which is now the fifth biggest-selling game of 2023. SEGA’s Sonic Superstars didn’t fare too badly either as it ...

Dunno what it's called. Better than Nintendo 64 but lesser than Gamecube.
I guess, sort of mid-way there.
Reminded me of Wonder Boy movie too.

I remember trying to watch that movie.
Those are cool artworks.
Yeah, I like his art.
Wow... Where is that?
The Rainbow Mountains in Peru... in fact lots of places in Peru look like they belong in a Sonic stage.
Valkyria Chronicles games do indeed have such unique graphics. Too bad they didn't do well sales-wise.
Yeah I gave Valkyria Chronicles a go but I didn't do much with it.
Would like to try Skies of Arcadia someday though.
It's normal. Not all games we played could 'click" with us.
True. That and we only had a few Dreamcast games.

I remember trying to watch that movie.

The kind of movie that made us sleep halfway.

The Rainbow Mountains in Peru... in fact lots of places in Peru look like they belong in a Sonic stage.

Ah.. The land of the Inca Empire. It's really a beautiful country ... landscapes-wise.

Yeah I gave Valkyria Chronicles a go but I didn't do much with it.
Would like to try Skies of Arcadia someday though.

The problem with Valkyria Chroicles series is even a single battle alone took long to complete, especially in later levels.
We already finished one Sonic game when one battle's completed.

DAMMIT Sonic! Try to catch up!

Sonic's not alone this time. He's got to wait Knuckles, Tails, Amy, and Trip to catch up. That's why he couldn't run that fast.

Yeah, it was a bit of a drag. Plus, I've already watched the anime at the time, so I already knew the story, so that didn't help.

But seriously though, doesn't help Metacritic is already sucking off SMB.Wonder  over Sonic Superstars though.

That's a funny video

They already tried changing the game into more fast-paced by changing the genre into action RPG but it wasn't received well.

It's been six years since Mario got original mainline game that's not just remake or spin-off so I kinda understand that the hype.

I can sorta see why jusging by those pictures alone.
Sega: "Oh well, into the pile." *Tosses it into the pile* "Valkyrie Chronicles is dead to us. Never speak of it again."

No, they tried one more time after this with Valkyria Chronicles 4.
(Valkyria Chronicles 4 came on 2018, Valkyria Revolution released on 2017).
And sadly eventough the game was well received, the sales weren't as expected too.

Well, if 2018 is regarded "recent" and Sakura Wars came out in 2019... well maybe it’s too early to count them out yet.

But you know what Sega are like when it comes to franchises that don't pull their sales.

Sakura Wars was worse case than Valkyria Chronicles.
Its mobile game "Sakura Kakumei" has made SEGA lost a lot of money eventough the gameplay was solid and being handled by top developer, Delightworks.

That sucks. And it's these kinds of shortcomings that give Sega the message that it is unwanted and will "put in the pile".

While I myself don't play Sakura Wars, I'm sure it must have a known fanbase. But the number of fans wasn't enough to make a favourable sale. Instead of renovating the franchise in order to appeal and expand the fandom, it's just easier for Sega to just abandon and let the fandom starve itself to death.

It's not enough now if it just to attract existing fans. It's also has to attract non fans too into becoming ones.

Yes, but they can't attract new fans if they just "give up". And even if Sakura Wars reboot was more of a cost than an earning, the game still received average to above reviews, sold more units than So Long My Love and in its first week ranked second in sales behind Pokémon Sword and Shield, that's nothing to scoff at.

Sega got the ball rolling! Sure it's a gutter ball, but Sega will not know if they will get a spare if they don't try again!

They don't gave up right away. They already tried twice for each franchise.
Valkyria Revolution and Valyria Chronicles 4.
Sakura Wars reboot and Sakura Kakumei.
