Yeah, porting is tricky. I remember two SEGA Saturn games (Cotton 2 and Cotton Boomerang) which were ported to modern system got many critique since they have 10 or so frames of lag between input (it may not noticable for non shmups fans). Some genres may handle a little input lag better than others, but shmups certainly aren't one of them.
This is why I regard Sonic Adventure as a "raw export". They just took the Dreamcast game as it is and jam it onto the PC regardless if it's coding entirely fit or not.

I mean, I'm sure it had some tweaks to make sure it runs well on PCs and display well on modern monitors but other than the programming was left intact and caused graphic and control issues here and there.

I've played the game for few hours in Steam Deck but luckily I didn't encounter any glitch so far. Still the game isn't Deck verified so I'm sure there were still some issues remained when the game's running on Deck.

If you mean you played Steams Sonic Adventure vanilla, then I've encountered a few physics issues as well as a sort of "feeling" it doesn't play like the original. I just can't play sonic Adventure without BetterSADX now.

Well, that was not surprising.
Once we taste the better one, it's hard to go back to the "not" better one;
For example, playing Sonic 1 in original Mega Drive now feels lacking since there is no spin dash yet.

I don't mind playing Sonic 1 without spin dash as long as it's not the NDS version of the game.

What about GBA version? I still think it's the worst version around.

Maybe that's the one I am remembering... though I am sure the one I remember was for the NDS and had Sonic Jam world music.

The one for NDS is the collection.
Lot better than GBA version since this is basically just emulator with roms, not remake.
It's highly sought after now since unlike Origins, its Sonic 3 still have Michael Jackson's music.

Oh? I might still have it somewhere... if I had not sold it yet.
