i asked S0L about the physics in the game and got a reply, which greatly satifies me, lol with Sumo constantly talking about how advanced and complex the physics in the game are and not going into any detail.

It all runs under full physics, whether car, boat or plane. We wanted to do this so the behaviour was more predictable, since last time we cheated and faked a lot of it. It adds a whole heap of depth of control as a side effect, plus it means you'll got consistent vehicle behaviour.

The water also is a dynamic surface, so waves affect the boats, splashes and explosions too. Between the physics there and the rendering (making water look like water means a lot of effects!) this is why we opted for a capped framerate of 30. In order to get to 60, we'd have to pull back on the graphical look of the game a lot, and when we're doing a whole new engine to make it look as good as it does, you have to make this compromise.

No-one complained about the framerate at Play Expo at any rate :P

Some excellent news for those fearing that one HD platform will get more characters than another HD platform:

S0L was asked:

S0L, could you check with SEGA and tell them to announce which platforms have which amount of characters. Or iif you could do it now without breaking any SEGA rules that would be awesome. It sounds very pushy, but the game is 1 month and 3 days away, I need to know which version to pre-order.

All console versions are the same roster-wise aside from the Avatars and Miis, PS3 is down one in that regard.

Also, very interesting to read "it may never be confirmed until the year is up". More DLC on the way? Or perhaps timed unlocks or characters who appear for certain times of the year (like Christmas NiGHTS?)

Anyway, I doubt this game will be released in Japan without additional characters. Cannot see SEGA Japan letting this title fly into retail spaces with flops like Sonic, AiAi, Beat and Vyse being the major characters. Game would probably struggle 50k across all platforms, if that, with it's current roster in Japan.
Neither can i even though SMB always seem to be the most popular title in Japan from the characters you listed, they alone wouldn't be enough to entice your average  Japanese consumer. You're going to get the inevitable, "Where's this character?. Who the hell is this guy? Why is she in this game?!" To the japanese Sega fan they should be aright with some of the roster but not all of it and to the public they will say, "Sega superstars? There is NO superstar in this game." Alright, a bit of an exaggeration but you know what i'm getting at.

I believe IGN mentioned you can earn pts/miles online through multiplayer matches ;)

someone on SSMB asked S0L about the recent wii u voice chat news, and he said Wii u ASR Transformed has no voice chat due to the Wii u not having cross game chat XD

What the heck at the Team Sega achievement. This may be impossible for me as I never have anyone over at my house besides me playing games. :(
