Crimson Dragon - spiritual successor to Panzer Dragoon

Figured I'd put this in the non-SEGA discussion, since it has nothing to do with SEGA officially.

But goddamn am I excited for this one! Just a few minutes ago the game popped into my head and I was like, "shit, when does that release?" Unfortunatly the XBOX Kinect dragon flight game was meant to come out in July, but was delayed.

Good news is, they've started a bit of pre-release hype via a mobile phone side story game:

And, holy shit it looks really good! And this isn't even the main game! The review for it is glowing. Sadly, I don't have a Windows Phone, so I haven't played this. Has anybody else? Or does anybody have access to the game and care to give it a download and tell us what you think? I believe it's only $1.

That looks like the best mobile game ever.

It's funny how I remember reading that the game's gameplay wasn't going to be similar to PD, but that seems kind of bullshit now. Nevermind that though, i'll just enjoy the game

It's a shame that it's Windows Phone only. They better make it compatible with Surface tablets, cause that's the only way the average person will be able to play it. I don't know a single person with a Windows Phone, and I know a ton of nerdlingers.

Gawd, at least make it Android compatible.
In any event, when this comes out it might be the first time I've booted up my Kinect in fucking forever.

Bumping this - game is now an Xbox One exclusive and features both controller and Kinect control options (similar to Child of Eden)

Shame the trailer didn't have sound working, but here it is with sound intact: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=almnHg1WucY

wow.  Yeah, this is actually pretty fun!  The music sounds just like something from the classic Panzer Dragoon games.  The mechanics are the same, even.  You "Tap" your dragon to change colors to use different power-ups.  You can run your finger over the enemies to do the homing attack and....hell, this is just like a panzer dragoon game!  The enemies are different.  The boss battles are very similar with certain weak spots and a life bar.  Achivements are pretty darn easy to get as well.  The only thing is that it's not in third person view like the old games.  It's more like a 2D side-scrolling shooter.  Still darn good though!

I'm probably wrong, but I think they got the old composer to return.

Yeah, if this was an actual Panzer Dragoon game that would be something.  It looks great, but Panzer-ish maybe isn't enough for me to buy a console.

I'm surprised there are so few people interested in this game.
C'mon guys, it has potencial to be the best release for the Xone in its launch window.

I'm definitely interested in this game. I'm intrigued to see how the theme of the world compares to the Panzer Dragoon series. Is it really the same world, just with a new name? Will that be a satisfying way to (unofficially) continue telling the story of the world?

Unfortunately, I can already see that the dragon designs and the art direction are not quite up to par with Panzer Dragoon. But maybe it will have its own magic. I'm keeping an open mind about it, but at this point I do not see myself buying either of the new consoles any time soon.
