All that's confirmed is that there was at one point, a wii version of Generations under consideration.  That could have been a completely separate thing for all we know.  I wouldn't be surprised if Colors did start out its development cycle as Generations Wii but at the moment, that's all just conjecture.

And even if it is true, what does it matter?  If it's supposed to be an argument that Colors was some kind of slap dash cash in, it certainly doesn't hold water.  The quality of the game (which by all critical accounts is equal or more to Generations)doesn't reflect that at all.

Nintendo fan version?  What does this even mean?  It's like you're looking to bring people down for no reason.

Either way, we got a great Sonic game on the Wii, and I do prefer it over Generations overall. I do like Generations, but some of it didn't sit well with me, Colours seemed to provide something to me that was very unique for a Sonic game other then the Wisps.

Obsessed with Nintendo? I don't know. I felt like Colours gave Sonic fans a better deal myself. Although Generations Colours level was great too. Edit: Colour track? Thinking of Transformed again damn it!

Agreed.  Colors was the better game.

Hence my irritation at Shadineko's "reasoning."   But I should probably not let it get to me.

Same here. Colors was magical. Despite generations having the better controls, colors was the better total package for me. It had a Great amount of content with well designed and varied stages.

@Radrappy
yeah, of course I'm shadi!
I thought the avatar would give it away, just felt like changing my name.

Anyways, you're free to think what you want, I'm just pointing out what Iizuka-san has said in interviews. Guy isn't afraid to speak his mind or tell the truth, I love that about him, lol. You know some of the things he says probably makes SEGA West PR bang their heads against walls xD, i get the feeling SEGA Japan PR doesn't care what he says since Sonic isn't super huge in Japan.

Anyways, sorry if I came off as rude/mean/whatever, i don't mean to, it just happens xD. I have a genuine disdain for anything Nintendo and it just comes out of me naturally :P hard to explain

No worries, I feel bad about making a deal about it in the first place.  We all just want good things for the franchise when it comes down to it anyway.

Yeah, I had a few problems with Colours, but it was not as much as Generations.

Did Ilzuma have input in that game? I have read that he wasn't as involved in Colours as Generations.

In my opinion, I don't think he is as good at making Sonic games as he is with NiGHTS (Journey of Dreams is debatable, but I liked it), I do think he cares about the Sonic brand, but I think sometimes his ideas aren't always the best ones. I think he needs to make something not related to Sonic or NiGHTS for me to judge properly.

Agreed.  Colors was the better game.

It's all in the passion.

I'm more of a Shinobi Team/Overworks fan myself anyway. Sonic Team's stuff is very good if we ignore Sonic itself, it's too bad that they don't make them as much as we hope.

We also rarely hear of Hitmaker...are they making another Virtual On or has that franchise died with Border Break being "the" game to go to in Japan?

Overall, I am hoping there's a Sonic Colours 2.

I think a Sonic Colors 2 would be a great decision, because I really do think that the concept lends itself to expansion and that the game needs to be multi-platform. Of course throw the Wii U owners a bone and add in some second screen shit, but make it a game that doesn't rely on control gimmicks.

Plus, I really think it's about time that we get a numbered sequel again. No, NOT Sonic Adventure 3. But rather a numbered sequel to a recent successful Sonic game. Colors was, in my opinion and in the opinion of many others, the first really successful Sonic game in a long long time. And it was the first game since the Adventure series that deserved a sequel. Sonic '06 2? Fuck no. Sonic Unleashed 2? Oh hell no (besides, the werehog curse was cured, how shit would it be if the curse returned?). Sonic Generations 2? As much as I love Generations, it does not lend itself to a sequel given the celebratory nature of the game and the fact that another full game of referencing past titles would be overkill.

That leaves us with Colors, which had fun and unique gameplay ideas that deserve a bit more expansion. I'd gladly play a game with new and returning Color powers. Plus, why not throw Tails into the mix for a sequel, by allowing players to choose either Sonic or Tails?

Anyway, it's a pipe dream, but it's not something I'd be against. Nor would I be sad if it never happened.

well, that explains a lot.  I have nothing against the man personally but it seems as though he's brought terrible design decisions with him where ever he goes.  Shadow the Hedgehog(the game) was his idea after all.

I thought Shadow the Hedgehog (the game) had a very cool concept, but it was executed poorly. It was like Sonic gameplay meets OutRun stage progression. Too bad it was a mess... Black Arms, Eggman and Sonic & Friends chattering throughout levels and stages looped. Ugh.

By concept I'm assuming you're referring to some form of level progression, not the idea of a sonic character wielding photo realistic fire arms.  Because that shit is stoopid.

Iizuka was involved in all of Sonic the Hedgehog 4, Sonic Colours and Sonic Generations. Much like how despite several teams, Nagoshi was involved in with Binary Domain, Of the End and Black Panther 2.

Bear in mind the Colours team also worked on Sonic Generations (One team for the first year of production and second year was two teams combined) and they were responsible for both Sonic and the Secret Rings and Sonic and the Black Knight so prior to Colours their quality was... questionable.

Definitely.  Black Knight was an ultimate low for the franchise, on the same level as Shadow or 06.  But prior to Generations, the Generations team's quality was also questionable.  I suppose it depends on how much you appreciated Unleashed.

I didn't like the game very much when it came out but recently find myself remembering certain things about it fondly.  A lot of effort went into designing each environment and making it look like a different country in Sonic's world.
