This is just a version to make it Offline, and turn off it's infrastructure.

Virtua Fighter 6 coming.

Theyre still aware this series exists?

But seriously, its been almost a decade since we've seen a new numbered Virtua Fighter. What is this, Street Fighter?

We will have to wait and see if this is a big "upgrade" or something else...

The name of the game doesnt matter guys...whats the difference between this and a posible VF6 if this "version B" is actually something great?

Not right now, but this is probably a good sign towards a possible VF6 rather than Sega not paying attention to the game at all.

Theyre still aware this series exists?

Sponsoring tournaments in Japan and USA would indicate that yes, they do still remember this game.

It's very likely this is going to be a very minor update. It'll most likely be tweaking start up/recovery frames, juggle properties and the like. I'm thinking it's just going to be balance changes for the competitive scene. They won't introduce new characters/stages/moves in a 'revision' like this.

I'm still interested to see what they change though!

So now we have Tekken 7, Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, and this coming out within the first quarter of 2015?

What Mademan said,

SEGA of America and Europe hosted a couple of VF5FS SEGA Cup tournaments. As for SEGA of Japan, interviews and all the game openings have been uploaded on the 20th Anniversary website for quite sometime.

Can't forget about the recent cameos of Akira and Pai popping out in games Project X Zone, Dead or Alive 5 and lastly Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax.

So VF6 with PS4 arcade quality graphics? Yes please!

It's been confirmed that the only thing this changes, is to throw out the online infrastructure. The Japanese press releases usually details the updates, and this is the only thing that will change.

They've always sponsored tournaments. All I'm saying is this is another franchise that Sega has allowed to slip into irrelevancy, or close to it.

Oh? I thought there would be slight balance tweaks as well. Either way, interesting news. Someone in my VF group mentioned that this could be to pave the way for VF6. Who knows?

Didn't it say there would be more info soon though?

When was the last time they sponsored a tournament in the US and Europe for Virtua Fighter?

I don't think they've done anything wrong by the series TBH. It took a long time for it to come to console, but that's the only thing I would complain about. I loved the XBLA/PSN version and hope they do something similar for the next iteration, whatever it may be.

Really? No balance changes? That seems bizarre.

But yeah in the past couple of years Sega has made some respectable moves forward in the West with the Sega Cup. Since Virtua Fighter 6 is inevitable, you have to wonder what changes, if any Sega will make to Virtua Fighter gameplay experience.
