Gaming is Dead: Fallout 4 a TOP SELLER on Steam
« on: June 10, 2015, 01:40:08 pm »
Okay, for real, why is this game a top seller!?

What the hell is going on!?

1) We only have a trailer to go off. Details are so scarce for this game, why is it a top seller already!?

2) It's a digital marketplace. Why do you need to pre-order something digital!? There is zero chance of them 'running out of copies'.

3) There isn't a special edition or discount offered yet for pre-ordering. I can understand pre-ordering digital if it's something you really want it's got some kind of discount so you may as well, but WHY BUY IT AT FULL PRICE!?

What the hell is going on here people!?

Is this the future we chose? Is this what we've created for ourselves? Dead-eyed, soulless beasts that feed on our own flesh, eventually bleeding to death, rotting and our corpse rupturing in the sunlight while the vultures pick away at whatever charred and diseased remains are left?

It didn't used to be this way... it didn't used to be this way at all...

Why are you so surprised?...is had been like this since...the 5 generation maybe?, people dont learn thats why companies have such "bad" practices, because they know we are idiots.

To be honest it had been always like this, is just than the gaming market is bigger now, and this people move the industry.

Again, missing the point.

I love Fallout as well, but why am I going to throw $70 at nothing but a trailer? There is zero advantage to pre-ordering this instead of waiting for release, but people are throwing money at it regardless.

Cause people are hyped? Lol, no idea. If i saw a trailer for a FFVI Remake i'd throw money at it. Just depends on the game and whether or not you're a die hard.

People is a popular game on PC, I can easily see why people would get hyped up and pre-order it immediately. Just like certain people would probably immediately pre-order Shenmue 3 or Sonic Adventure 3.

There is literally no reason to pre-order. I can understand some misguided nuts doing it because they've lost their marbles, but for a Top Seller to be a literal trailer and a promise over real games?

What the hell is going on!?

I can't be the only one who feels this is madness? (And Mariano I guess)

People pre-order the games so they can 'preload' it before it comes out. Basically you download all the data and Steam unlocks the game on midnight so you can play it the first second its officially out.

and people really like Fallout.

Yes, as long as you have 2 hours or less of gameplay. I think they said 2 weeks from purchase, I think pre-order content isn't 'purchased' till it comes out.

I think PSN and Xbox Live should have the same deal, that way developers that make bad games suffer more. Honestly, tricking consumers and taking their money with 'Haha, Yeah it looked good but its shit' is not a good tactic for gaming companies anyway.

Both such reasons are fine, I think though that as MM has been putting it, it is somewhat irrelevant at this point in time.

The game was just announced, we don't have a release date for it and we have absolutely zero information about outside of some initial comments by Bethesda.

Even if you did like the series, and wanted to save the trouble of downloading on release day, there is still little logical reason to preorder it with the lack of the former information. You can still preorder it closer to release date and not have to worry about downloads on release day.

pfffft, pre-ordering bethesda games

everyone knows you wait a couple months after the game comes out so most of the bad bugs are removed and all the fun ones stay

But seriously, unless the thing comes with an exclusive cool trinket, it's not worth pre-ordering anything these days. Especially not this early. I'd wait till after E3 before doing that.

Well not me, as I just said, Bethesda games are so buggy at launch, you really are better off waiting a month or two when there's a good size of patches, both official and fan-made, so you can play the game without it crashing so often.
