Well after how successful TMoStH was for just a one-off joke game, they maybe encouraged by Sega to make more.
At least after pandemic (pachinko and pachislot took a big hit during pandemic), they're focusing a lot on video games again.

Well, I do find Hero-Ki a rather.. questionable choice of Sonic association.
I mean, if it was me, I would of made Hero-Ki the
Scout/
Tracer of the team. Or the very least make him like
Sonic Man who I imagine is an athletic human who is trying too hard to be a hero at the cost of his safety and well being.

To be fair, it's unfair to compare this game to say, Sonic Frontiers or Sonic Generations given you have to pay for those games and this TMoStH is suppose to be a fun yet easy time-killer of a game.
Don't get me wrong, I would love sequels to the game, especially if they're willing to beef it out a bit, such as Layton-style puzzles or something of the like.
