I've heard of this over on SNN. Some fans are concern or against the idea of rebooting the main Sonic series continity, others are for it. I myself think that sonic series will not be rebooted because it's already Sega's most thriving, most popular franchise.
I'm hoping it will mostly be remakes than reboots. We already had Sonic Origins which is somewhat like a remake of the Classic-era of Sonic games. A remake of the Adventure games would be great!
I remember back then Square Enix didn't want to remake Final Fantasy VII.
They want to keep challenge themselves with new games.
Remaking old games feel like they have ran out of idea.
But we know it's not the case anymore ...
May be SEGA back then was also thinking this way.
But now I can see Adventure remake is on the way when they ran out of idea to fill the gap between main titles (Frontiers to its sequel), just got to be patient.
