Yeah, Golden Age Batman was really b*dass.
It's ironic that people says Batman is darker than Superman but the current version Batman almost never killed anyone while Superman has already killed Doomsday, Imperiex, Cyborg Superman, Brainiac 13, and the evil turning version of Mister MXYZPTLK.
Superman also killed Zod in the movie version.

I think the "excuse" to why it was morally sound for Superman to kill them was because they were regarded monsters or in-human. There fore it's not inhuman to kill them if they were not human to begin with.

Doomsday, for example, he was more of a biological weapon monster than a living being.

I still prefer the pink-clothed version than the black top version, it's very iconic for me.
