IGN stands for (Ignorant Gaming Network).

They haven't have any credibility since 2005.

They write about what sells. Don't give them money by caring about their opinion

Got that right. I pity anyone who takes their opinion as gospel.

And don't even get me started on the comments section. Basically just a console fanboy Warzone.

yeah IGN sucks, but you know what? Every fucking general gaming news site sucks. They all piss me off.

Anybody know of a good one? This is a serious question.

Online Game journalism in general has gone to crap.

It's basically a "Payola" market now. Clickbait. Console fanboy pandering, Publisher Shilling and poorly researched articles. Publishers like ActivisionBlizzard pay sites to give rave reviews to their recycled IPs.

Even worse, garbage like Call of Duty ALWAYS gets perfect scores and sites like GameSpot always overhype and recommend  generic FP like Fallout, Call of Duty e.t.c.

That's why its YouTube for actual fair assessment and journalism.

For a decent game journalism site, Polygon is a good one.

A bit disappointing. There used to be a good bit of sega representation when they made lists like these.

Conflicting emotions.

While I think the IGN bashing here is a little extreme, I agree that it's a little weird not to see at least one Sega game in there.

I find that a little crazy, though I also don't know how these things are voted for or what the procedure is.

But then maybe I should just accept the fact that it's possible that people who are becoming gamers (and gaming journalists) a few years after us... might not be as much aware of Sega as we are.

Obviously we've all dug Sega over the years. But the fact is, with Sega further and further scaling back their exposure over the years, it's becoming a possibility that the generations following us won't really know about them at all.

Bashing is justified. Not a single SEGA game? Ign is a joke.

They fail to realize that excellent 1st party talent is something Sony and MS completely lack. Nintendo has been reusing its old franchise icons for years but doesn't have the noteworthy flawlessness of SEGA's classic IPs.

Also, wasn't  this the same site that had a reviewer give Sonic Unleashed a poor score just because he was SUCKING at playing it?

Considering the new direction of SEGA as a whole with both them becoming more and more PC Centric as a publisher and them expanding their global Arcade and Amusement brand in addition to taking the mobile gaming business by storm. SEGA will have its own audience and own base of fans and consumers. I forsee that. This should be enough to give them an opportunity at re-entering the home consumer gaming business.

I believe SEGA will have PC fanboys,Veteran Gamers and casuals on their side in the coming years. I believe few game journalists(Polygon,Gamasutra) will pay attention to them. But remember, that's a good thing. SEGA doesn't need to be in that corrupted circle.

PC Gamer and Rock Paper Shotgun are pretty good, but beware that EVERYONE in Rock Paper Shotgun is a Thief fanboy.

No! Nononononononononono! That site is some kotaku-grade bullshit. It's purpose is to shun devs they don't like.

There is only one true legit videogame review source: Classic Game Room.

Other than that you're better off going in blind and playing the games yourself (which usually is great)

I've always just preferred gauging opinions from friends if I'm interested in a game. I only ever use websites like PCGamer, IGN, Screwattack, etc. to read news. I'll read the occasional review but that's not exactly common. It is fairly idiotic IGN doesn't put even one SEGA made game on the list, that's some pretty hardcore ignorance for a GROUP of high-profile game journalists to have.

God, I haven't watched Mark's stuff in so long. Last I heard, he was doing his own comic, right, getting the show on DVD? Hope he's doing well.
