SEGA trademarks ‘Valkyria of the Blue Revolution’
« on: October 19, 2015, 10:27:42 pm »
The trademark is for consoles, amusement machines (slot machines/Pachislots) and medal games. For the record the Japanese franchise name is 'Valkyria of the Battlefield: Gallian Chronicles' so 'Valkyria of the Blue Revolution' isn't far off title.

It mostly has descriptions of an Arcade title. It's likely SEGA bringing the series to Arcades.

It could be a new MMO online game exclusive for PS4 (lucky guess).

I mean, Revolution seems to refer a lot of characters/users involved in something.

Revolution doesn't mean a lot of people, it means a change. Usually a forcible overthrow of a government in favour of a new one. It probably refers to the story, perhaps it's based on a civil war.

The mark description doesn't sound like its an MMO at all.

There's no Class 41 description for online game software and digital game services.

It mostly describes Arcade games and Arcade machines and accessories.

There is no reason to believe its an Arcade or slot game more than a home console game, the trademark simply covers all bases. Perhaps it is the re-launch of the series under a new title, considering they painted themselves into a corner with the releases of VC2 and 3 on the PSP.

Until its filed in the WIPO & US Trademark office, we can't be sure what media it will be used for.

Those jurisdictions require specific descriptions and uses, but the JTO is a bit more discrete.

Until then, its all ambiguous speculation at best.(Though it mostly has descriptions for Arcade use.)

I don't think SRPGs are suitable for Arcades.
And if it's a spin-off with a different genre, then why use the Valkyria IP? It's not like it's popular.

I'm trying to stay hopeful.

Well Sega's successfull arcade games today are the deeper genres (RTS, Management Simulation)

One thing I think it is safe to be sure of is that it IS a Valkyria Chronicles title or some sort... 'Valkyria' is a made up word specifically for this title and blue is a major theme of the series. It is without a doubt another Valkyria game which is great because at least the IP isn't abandoned.

It could be a mobile game, but they already made a VC mobile game and shut it down. It could be an Arcade game, though I personally doubt it... If I was to hazard a guess I would say it's a PS Vita or 3DS game... If I was to be extra hopeful I would say they've realised their is money to be made on a multiplatform release and it's a new game for PS4 and Steam. (That would be the dream.)

Minor spoilers for VC1:
at the end Radi Jaeger hinted that he would return to his homeland of Fhirald and start a rebellion there
Minor spoilers for VC3:
and in a DLC mission in VC3 hints at this too, with another old man in the party going off to help in these efforts too
So I feel like it's fairly likely this is going to be about the Fhirald rebellion and be a true sequel at last
