Having 32 players online playing together without lag was already hard enough.
Besides it's more party games (like Fall Guys) than racing games.

I guess only way outside of Sonic Shuffle or Mario Party games.

I haven't thought of that. Especially with the kind of mini-games Sonic Shuffle had that often had characters move about, Rumble can expand on those concepts.

It probably could but Sonic Shuffle wasn't selling well so it might hard to get greenlight from SEGA execs when Rumble core gameplay alone is already well-received.

Sonic Team definitely would.
Hence they (or at least Shun Nakamura) wanted to give Sonic '06 and Shadow (2005) a chance  but in the end it's not their call, it's up to SEGA.
