I won't be surprised. Even in DC Facebook group I saw Flash fan's complaining whwn Superman could keep up with him.
It is a bit vague given Superman is suppose to be a character that can practically do anything.

Yeah, but it made problems for writers if they want their characters they write could be able to battle Superman.
That's why using Elseworlds version of Superman gave them free reigns to write without restrictions.
Did you know this "Allstars Batman & Robin" elseworld version of Superman couldn't fly?

He just jump very high and fast, or "able to leap tall buildings in a single bound" as they prefer said.

Actually it's closer to the original.
Did you know when Superman first appeared in 1938, he actually didn't fly — he leaped, only 1/8th of a mile at a time!

Wasn't it explained he was still fairly new to his powers at the time?
While at the same time, the writers were not shy to make up whatever super-power on the spot needed for the story. Such as super-weaving.

Yeah, months later, but he was never meant to be able to fly in the first place.
The decision to make him be able to fly was because it was requested by the maker of the Animated Superman Films of the 1940s, The Fleischer cartoons.
After seeing the "leaping' power fully animated, The Fleischer cartoons deemed it "silly looking" and asked Action Comics' (which would later become DC Comics) permission to have him fly instead.
Action Comics agreed and wrote the flight ability into the comics from then on.

While at the same time, the writers were not shy to make up whatever super-power on the spot needed for the story. Such as super-weaving.

True, even the movie version do this.
That "Turning Back Time" power to save Lois or superkiss power to erase Lois' memory, I'm sure that's not taken from the comic version.

But over time, they did solidify his primary Superpowers.
  • Superspeed (but not as fast as Speed Force speedsters.
  • Super strength and endurability
  • Flight
  • Heat vision
  • X-ray vision
  • Powerful breath
  • Ice breath

When it comes to fights with Bizzaro, sometimes Bizzaro has the exact same powers as superman, but I like it when Bizzaro is given cold vision and fire breath instead.[/list]
