Tyson Hesse told us after the film that the symbols Sonic is spinning on the Owl Statue are meant to be Babylonian as a deep cut Riders reference.
The idea was since the owls and Babylon Rogues are birds that it’d be a fun connection.

Sonic the Hedgehog Series Wouldn't Recast Dr. Robotnik If Jim Carrey Retires

"Jim Carrey is always a member of the Sonic family and he'll always have a place in these movies and TV shows as long as he'd like to be around. We love Jim and he's so special, and what he does with Robotnik is so incredible. We would love him as long as he'd like to be there with us," said Ascher.

Weekend Forecast Ranges for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - Opening Weekend Range: $60 — 75 million

With a significant presence in premium screens like Dolby, 4DX, ScreenX, and others, Paramount expects around $50 million for the domestic opening frame.
Sonic 2 begins sneak previews on Wednesday, followed by traditional Thursday previews beginning at 3pm nationwide.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 previously opened to $26.1 million internationally from just 31 markets last weekend.

This is why Paramount should've aimed for SEGA Cinematic Universe instead of Sonic Cinematic Universe.
But may be guess SEGA wouldn't let them so they just use what they could. Who knows.

Don't get me wrong, I really liked GUN in the movie, I just think it did not need an introduction. Especially by the most whitest guy they had in a hawaiian shirt. He's no Nick Fury with the Helicarrier.

Yes, that's more interesting. Also in Frogger 3D (3DS), there are many frogs where the protagonist frog can ride on to help him on the journey. A big giant frog, a frog that could emit light, a frog that could jump very far (but had trouble to make short jump), etc. They could make a cast of those many frogs as characters like on Angry Bird movie so the protagonist wasn't the only frog in the movie.

He said he wouldn't make Knuckles sound sexy... he failed, yet no one is upset by it.
All in all, I really liked his portrayal of Knuckles. He made Knuckles just a bit dumb like from Sonic Boom but still retains the respect for the character that he had in the games. My friend compared him to Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy.

Even I didn't know the owls were actually the Babylons. I just figured with was a race thing between Echidnas and Owls.

I'm glad. If Jim Carrey wants to retire I am all for his decision to do so. All I ask is to continue his role as Dr. Robotnik in the movies if he can.

And if the TV series turns out to be animated, they could always get Micheal Daingerfield, Rob Paulsen or Matt Frewer for the role of animated Dr. Robotnik. They all voiced cartoon versions of Jim Carrey at one point in their careers.
(Heck the animated series of The Mask and Ace Ventura had a crossover.)

I'm kinda dissapointed Neal McDonough wasn't back in Sonic Movie 2.
I always love him as a villain.
He got this annoying face that somehow make him perfect as villain.

And used to be happy when he was cast as Bison on Street Fighter: Legend of Chun Li,
but the movie was so bad it's such a waste.

Open to the idea sure... but honestly, rather not see it happen. Even if Movie Sonic goes to the world established in the upcomming Super Mario movie I just don't want to see such crossover happen. TO me that's just something that will either end up really good or really bad and will leave much fandoms divided over it.

I'd rather Jeff Fowler, or at least Paramount itself press Sega for the rights to make other Sega movies to make that cinematic universe I go on about. But Sonic only has two movies so far and I don't want it to be contaminated with crossovers outside of Sega franchses.

I mean... bah, I dunno. Inspired by StarKids I thought "What if it would be cool if these guys made a Sonic and Mario stageplay?" Those guys always knew how to mix great comedy into their parodies while applying the right degree of drama and sincerity to take the source materials seriously and I can imagine a Smash Bros. adaption like this... but not really for the big screen.

Yeah, the only animated ones he's done were movies (A Christmas Carol and Horton Hears a Who!), not TV series.
Rob Paulson or Micheal Daingerfield would do well to replace him.

"Jim and Lee (Majdoub, who plays Agent Stone), they're so great together and do so much funny stuff, and it is heartbreaking that it all can't make the movie because it's just so fun to watch the two of them.
We had a few more scenes inside the Mean Bean where they were just being themselves, and it was so fun and so hilarious, but at the end of the day it wasn't necessarily moving the story forward as much as would be required to earn a place in the movie."
