I really like Sonic CD, but I do totally get why some people dislike it. It wasn't made with the same ideals that drove Sonic 2-3&K. They took what was Sonic 1 and layered on this new way to play via exploration. When I first played it back in '98, I thought the stages were insanely short and lacked the roller coaster moments of Sonic 2-3&K. Now, I have a little more patience and enjoy finding the signs and the generators.

I am with Kori Maru. Once you play the game as it's supposed to be played as in exploring and searching for the robot teleporters, it is very enjoyable. backtracking is ALWAYS possible. The game is built that way. You can always get back from the end to the start and I really love this as it is not anoying to explore(well except wacky workbench, that stage is torture)

I think what held the game back though is that it didn't make itself so clear. A person coming from ordinary platformers and sonic 1 may just play it regular from beginning to the end and think there's not much to do after that.  A

Not everyone plays for achievements/trophies. I think it would have been best if they had divided each act by 3 missions, like in sonic adventure 1.

Mission 1: head to the goal
Mission 2: Clear stage with 50 rings (unlocking special stage)
Mission 3: Destroy space shuttle and make a good futurue

That would have been a more clear aproach for the player to go and do them I think ?

Exactly.

Back in the days before tutorials and pop ups which laid out how the game worked, people were just tossed into the game. If you didnt read the guide book, you'd have no idea how the future/past thing worked. Given how Sonic 1 was so simple to understand, it was rather an odd choice to make CD so complicated. As I'm sure a lot of people didn't get to CD until a bit later when the CD hardware was more affordable, I'm certain a lot of people dived right in without really learning how to properly play the game.

I'm glad this rerelease has a digital guide book in the options, plus a lot of the reviews explain how the time travel system works.

The time travel aspect is the best thing about Sonic (well other than the music) it was little bit unique and I'm surprised more games didn't use the feature . Loved make how you could made a good future by going back inthe past to destroy the machine and how the level would change as a result
Panzer Dragoon Zwei is
One of the best 3D shooting games available

Well, I managed to complete the whole thing with all the extra's. I decided to make a little guide because, I swear this is nowhere to be found around the net. The game itself doesn't even tell you and last, it is hard as ****. I hope this may come in handy to alot of people that are searching for this info.

Get aload of this!!!!!!!!

Unlockable - Howto

Tails - Beat the game one time.
Special Stage Time Attack - Clear every level in normal Time Attack mode(including bosses)
D.A. Garden - Clear Time Attack mode with a combined total of 25 minutes or under OR Clear main game with all 7 Time Stones (needs confirmation).
Visual Mode - Clear Time Attack mode with a combined total of 25 minutes or under.
Stage Select - Clear Special Zone Time Attack with a combined total of under 5 minutes.
Sound Test - Clear Special Zone Time Attack with a combined total of under 4 minutes.

About the PC version of Sonic CD, after several updates in the past weeks to the Sonic 4 Episode 1 entry in the Steam registry, this time it was the Sonic CD entry that was updated.
A Sonic CD entry was added to the subscriptions tab, and, in the Applications tab, instead of a single "Valve Test App" entry, now there's 2 entries related to Sonic CD, one entry for the "manifest" file (app 200940, which shows that Sonic CD will use an external configuration tool for graphics options), and one entry for the actual content (app 200941, which shows that the game will use 322MB hard drive space).

I bought the PC version off Gamersgate.com. There was nothing there, at least until today... There's a note that says "Unused serial keys".

If there will be any Sonic release today (be it Sonic CD, Sonic 4 Ep1, or the Generations Casino Night DLC), it'll be after 6pm GMT (after 10am~12pm in the US, depending on the time zone), which is when games are usually released on Steam.

EDIT: It's official, all 3 of them are coming today:
