Wii is broken?
« on: May 03, 2014, 07:02:18 pm »
SO I powered up the wii to check in on it.  I've been thinking  at some point I'd like to get a WiiU, but turning on the Wii, I can't get it to sync with any wii mote.  Sometimes the pointer shows up for a second.  The  light on the wiimote comes on for a second, then turns off again.  I've tried the red sync buttons, don't know what to do.  I'd really like to be able to transfer all the master system games over to a wii U at some point, but it seems like the wii is totally inaccessible without the wiimote.  Is there some other way in using a gamecube controller or the USB port?

PLugging in a keyboard woke up the screen so it wasn't grey, but I couldn't select anything.

Have you tried a different Wii remote? That's the only way to communicate with the Wii.

Your Wii is not broken. Nintendo just pulled another Pokemon, crappy save battery edition, where everything erases. If it is truly the controller, check if their is dust or the settings. Otherwise call Nintendo and tell them about the situation. Of course it is Nintendo, and all of your official Nintendo, quality of seal products are on the thing. Especially if you Download pay.

Imagine a vast future, where ten-thousand Wii units, sit broken, while I am still playing my GCN games, from their CD's and cartridges.

Sega would never allow such crap to occur. Sure they spent funds on crap, like an External DVD-player. Sure the Dreamcast could have played DVD's ( but then again phuck dvds, VCD's are the 411. Sure SEGA messed on those decisions, but at least my Dreamcast, and Saturn, and Genesis can keep, going, and going, and going, and going.

Seriously check your warrenty. Check other peeps sit. Call them about it. To see if you can send it in, and retain your data ( if everything is legit, get it, legit ). Otherwise hoar your Wii out to a repair person, get everything off, and see what can work, and sell the thing for a penny, with free shipping of course.

I tried putting new batteries and re-syncing 4 different wii-motes.

Huh. Well that's a bitch. I've never had a Wii go FUBAR on me so I'm not quite sure what to do. Granted if my Wii did do something like that, I'd probably end up blaming my modchip. I'd give Nintendo a call or Google a bit harder.
