Take Rouge the Bat for example, they slimmed her down in latest Sonic games because Sega figured her curvy, voluptuous form she had since the Dreamcast-era would be regarded provocative for todays standards, when, to me, she wasn't provocative to begin with and is more than just a "sexy bat girl", such as her love for jewels, her rocky love-interest with Knuckles, her sister-like friendship with Shadow. She is a thief, a femme-fatale and GUN agent, a rather layered character. So slimming her body down just feels like a form of body-shaming to me.
