Playstation Plus
« on: June 22, 2010, 10:01:19 am »
Well I just logged in to PSN and had this new Terms of Service. They are in portuguese but I'll translate the important bits concerning Playstation Plus:

When you buy a subscription, you have access to exclusive "content" and "services"(special discounts and such). These will vary during your subscription period.

Some free content may only be available for a certain amount of time. Then here's what will happen when that time and your subscription expires:

(1)
Avatars and Themes
These will be available forever even after your subscription ends.

(2)
PSN games, PSX games, Minis, DLC
You WILL NOT be able to use these after your subscription expires.

If you DO NOT RENEW YOUR SUBSCRIPTION RIGHT AWAY and do it at a later time YOU MAY LOSE ALL YOUR (2) CONTENT.

The "services" are only available to paying subscribers. Here are some conditions:

AUTOMATIC TRANSFERS
You can activate the automatic downloads through System Settings. This will apply to all PSN accounts on the console.
(lol they repeated this paragraph 2 times)

When Auto transfers are activated, while your console is in stand-by (and connected to the internet) it will turn on automatically every 48 hours for a period of time of your choosing. During that time, it will download firmware updates, game patches, game demos.

Any updates will not be installed until you accept the conditions to that software. Patches will be based on your recently played games. There may be a limit of game demos available for one console. When this limit is reached, the demos you didn't use will be deleted in favor of new ones. Every autocontent you don't access in a month's time will be deleted.

Autocontent will not be downloaded if you have less than 5GB available, if your console is already turned on when it should be turning on automatically (what?) or if you don't have the latest firmware.

DISCOUNTS
Sometimes there will be special discounts.

EARLY ACCESS TO STUFF
self-explanatory, you will get content before non-subscribers.

FULL GAME TRIAL
During your subscription you may have full version games for transfer for free experience. The duration of the trial will be in the product's description. This period will start the first time the game is loaded. During the trial, it will act as a normal game, saving files and getting trophies (though these won't be uploaded to your account server). If you buy the game, everything will work and the trophies will be uploaded.

Occasionally, during your subscription, it may be offered to you the opportunity to try out beta games. The participation in these betas is not guaranteed. They are pron to aditional terms

They should charge for twitter!

In all seriousness, I will wait for more features, I for one like apps and they have not offered them.

I think paying to borrow stuff isn't very appealing. Not to mention that probably you have to be connected to the Internet to play this stuff? I only connect occasionally. I'm not a fan of online play.

Yeah, the idea of not being able to keep the games if your subscription lapses isn't very appealing to me.

That is not my issue, my issue is I rather buy them. Now I question every game I buy lol.

They should do the subscription for games Sam and Max. Stuff I will probably not replay.

You gotta be kidding me. I already have about half of everything they offer in the first month!! Second month is interesting.. Medievil...I've always wanted to play it.

Anyway, if you're slightly interested in the concept, the first month's content is great.
LBP, Wipeout HD and Destruction Derby are all great great games, they are worth about 30 of your 50 bucks.

If they give away this extreme amount of content it might be great. Thing is that someday when the service is shut down in favor of the PS4 or something you might get nothing in the end...

Yeah, I already have Wipeout HD. It has a plat, worth playing.

Don't think you have to be signed in to 'play', i think it uses the INTERNAL clock you can't move to 'time' the subscription. (Same one that screwed up due to the leap year).

I dunno man, I just bought FIFA10's Ultimate Team and fuckdoopdeedoo it only works if you're signed in. This means that I have to turn on my PC everytime I want to play it. Makes no sense.
