A new release for the Sega CD and Mega CD

Rockets are headed toward the cities. You have a crosshair, a limited defense supply, and one job: protect all cities before they're overwhelmed.

Enemies streak across the sky — intercept. Your weapon travels to the target point and detonates, creating a blast that lingers in the sky for about a second.

The explosion isn't instantaneous, and isn't limited to a single point. Any enemies that pass through the blast are destroyed. Timing and positioning are key — you won't have enough supply to simply take down every enemy individually.

Rocket Raid started out on MS-DOS in 1996, written for the fun of finding out what a PC would let you get away with, and given away on a university web page to whoever wandered past. It's even playable at archive.org with a clever JavaScript DOS emulator in the web browser. Thirty years later, here it is on a Sega Mega CD — and it really is the same game underneath. Same 100 waves, same numbers driving them, same artwork at the same size. That last one is a happy accident: a DOS screen and a Mega Drive screen turn out to be exactly as wide as each other, so nothing needed rescaling and nothing got redesigned on the way over.

I've been working on Mega Dropblox: Numeria, a 16-bit version of a small number-merging puzzle game I originally made in Python and later updated with a web version.

The gameplay is inspired by games like Tetris, Columns, Puyo Puyo, Magical Drop, and also 2048, but it's quite different from my original version. This version has a story, cutscenes, and an ending.

The board is 6x8. You drop numbered blocks, merge matching values, and try to create chain reactions. Consecutive merges build a combo multiplier, so positioning your blocks and setting up cascades becomes increasingly important.

As your score increases, the timer gets shorter and more block values are introduced, gradually increasing the difficulty.

this is a sega mega drive/genesis demake of the 2048-like mobile puzzle game threes. merge 1 (blue) and 2 (red) tiles to make 3 (white), then merge two white tiles to make large numbers (6, 12, 24, 48 and so on).  keep in mind that tiles move one cell at a time, unlike 2048.

The game runs native Mega Drive code. Its movement, enemies, combat, shops, scrolling, and progression have been implemented for the console, using converted arcade graphics and source-derived game data. The cartridge does not run an arcade emulator or execute the original arcade program.

 All eight original stage maps are included, and substantial parts of the game have been reconstructed and tested against the arcade’s behavior, but it should not yet be described as a completely arcade-accurate conversion.
