Aside from Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity and Phantasy Star Online 2, Sega appears to have two more Phantasy Star games in the works.

In one of our Japanese trademark hunts we found Sega filed trademarks for Phantasy Star: Eternal Planets and Phantasy Star: Eternal Hunters. Both were registered for use with video games. The title makes it sounds like these are going to be companion games like Pokemon: (insert color) / (insert contrasting color), but probably without Rappys to catch.

Ever since Sega released Phantasy Star Online the series evolved from long dungeons with sci-fi stories to item hunts inside long dungeons. Curious to see how a Monster Hunter game would work if its split between two titles.

This is pretty awesome I say. The names of the trademarked games sound like they may be on the Nintendo DS or possibly Nintendo 3DS game, I'd like more Phantasy Star as well since I just started playing the games and really like them, lets hope we can hear more of these newer trademarked games sometime soon from SEGA :).

So far this this year, in Phantasy Star:
Phantasy Star Universe rereleases in the west via Games On Demand
Phantasy Star II rereleases in the west via iPhone
Phantasy Star Ø releases in Europe on DS
Phantasy Star Portable 2 releases in Japan December 2009
Phantasy Star Portable 2 releases in the west on PSP
Phantasy Star Portable 2: Infinity set for release on PSP  2/24/10
Phantasy Star Online 2 announced for PC 2011 at TGS

And now, two possible new games?

SEGA will milk the name for all it's worth, I guess. =P

So, think they'll make another Phantasy Star that isn't online? 'Cause it'd be cool if they made it an action RPG game similar to Shining Force EXA. ^__^ Heck, they could even re-use the same engine and release it on PS2. I'd love it.

I'd really like some offline story focused Phantasy Star games... In the same style of the classics but not a continuation of the story.

Like with YAKUZA and SHENMUE if things went to plan, certain games need to pay back the investment that the company spent on them and that's usually be giving them yearly releases or rereleasing old titles or mostly reusing the engine spread to four to eight games. Sure you already know that of course but one thing bothers me. I've always wondered why PSO never got the same speculation in its costs that the other two have, especially when this title could have "bankrupted" Sega as much as SHENMUE gets accused of doing.
