I think the problem is the 3D feature.
May be it would easier to make from scratch to accomodate the 3D feature than adapting an existing game to have it.
Hm, I dunno. I've seen some pretty impressive mods for Sonic Adventure, I wouldn't be surprised if a 3D feature would be possible.

I meant the 3D feature for Nintendo 3DS. Its 3D feature is kinda hard for most game developers (let alone modders) to do there since the hardware capability is limited.

I know what you mean by 3D, stereoscopy. While 3D televisions don't have that much of a market, I recall Sonic Generations had the feature.

When my local cinema was going through a 3D-cinema phase, I did purchase a pair of 3D glasses that had shades instead of anaglyph red/cyan lens, they seem to work even better. My cinema no longer show 3D films. I kept the glasses, but I don't think they work on regular television screens.

An alternate way to watch 3D films is with VR, when my Oculus Rift S was working fine, I had this app for it that simulated a cinema and allowed me to watch movies made for 3D viewing. Glasses were not needed, given the app fed my eyes the stereo-vision for each of them. I never tried 3D gaming with it.

I haven't tried playing Sonic Generations's stereoscope in VR, but i know it's possible. So with a VR headset, it's possible to play non-VR stereoscopy games and movies with it.

Yes, stereoscopy, that's the word.
The beauty of 3DS is we don't need any glasses to watch it, the hardware has already contained it.
The drawback was ... yeah, it's a handheld so the hardware was really limited given its size.
Even M2 said porting 2D games like Sonic 1 weren't easy because they had to separate layer by layer to support the 3D feature / stereoscopy.

For 3D games, the most notable example was Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.
It was a downgrade compared to PS Vita version (which look and play the same as console version),
but hey, at least it's unique, it got a stereoscopy.

Also 3DS has a camera function that let us watch 3D movies in computer / television with it.
Not a fun way to watch though but just saying that it's possible.

And other good thing was eshop also provided many 3D movies.
They're mostly animated movies though like Big Hero 6, The Lego Movie, Up, Wreck-It Ralph, Shrek Thriller Night, and Shaun the Sheep.
I don't think I ever watched live action ones other than trailers (Ryan Reynold's Green Lantern trailer is the only thing that I remember).

I can see why Nintendi didn't pursuit N3DS 3D-features for the Switch, it would've limited the third-party software. Though what they're doing with Virtual Boy is weird.

Virtual Boy thing is basically just an advertisement to make more people subscribe to their paid service "Nintendo Switch Online" subscribtion so I'm pretty sure they won't go full force on it.

I've already made suggestions what they can do with the Virtual Boy if they want to take a dip in the VR market.
But I doubt the Virtual Boy marketing is doing much.

Interview: New VIRTUA FIGHTER Project is fully aiming for GOTY.
A game that’s “fundamentally fun,” beyond the confines of the fighting game niche

Quote
—Tell us about yourself and your career so far.

Riichiro Yamada (hereafter Yamada):

I’m Riichiro Yamada, the producer of this project. I joined SEGA in 1999 as a game designer, and over the years I’ve been involved in all sorts of projects, from console titles to mobile games. At one point, I actually left SEGA and worked on game development at Warner Bros. Entertainment, but I returned to the company in 2023. I’m what you’d call a boomerang employee (laughs).

After I came back to SEGA, the idea for a new Virtua Fighter started taking shape, and I’ve been involved in the project since its inception.

—How did the New VIRTUA FIGHTER Project come to be?

Yamada:

Many players have long wanted to see Virtua Fighter revived and hoped something would be done about it. Since arcades have shrunk as a market for fighting games, we decided to focus our efforts on the console market instead.

Meanwhile, within SEGA, the Virtua Fighter team was integrated into RGG Studio, which prompted discussions about properly revisiting older IPs. Before long, people started saying, “Let’s make Virtua Fighter,” and I was assigned to oversee the project as producer.

—When the project was first launched, did you have a shared goal or vision within the team?

Yamada:

Of course, our goal is to make a game worthy of being nominated for Game of the Year. Like the very first Virtua Fighter, we want a title that doesn’t just sit within the “fighting game” mold.

The fighting game genre tends to be seen as a special, niche category. But Virtua Fighter actually isn’t like that; it’s easy for anyone to pick up and play, and I think that’s one of its strengths.

If a game isn’t something anyone can enjoy, it won’t reach the level of recognition needed to ...

No One Seems to Know if This Shenmue 4 Trailer Is Real or AI

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heI9T5Vby5I

Quote
The video teases a variety of minigames, from mundane activities like dishwashing, through to a Street Fighter-style arcade cabinet named Shenmue Fighters. It also looks like you’ll be able to buy and wear different outfits. Surely this isn’t AI?
There is a flashback scene towards the end of the trailer which looks suspicious, but other than that this all looks consistent with the tech Ys Net built for Shenmue 3.
The copyright information at the bottom notes that this is a work in progress and, if real, that creator Yu Suzuki’s company is once again licensing the franchise from SEGA.
The trailer first appeared on ...

"Hang Tight, We're In The Homestretch!" - English Translation Of Cult Dreamcast RPG SEGAGAGA Is Almost Done

Quote
Exxistance, the lead translator behind the forthcoming Segagaga English language patch, has revealed that the project is nearing its conclusion.
"This project has been a real source of joy for me over the past year," says the translator, who has also revealed that the game's manual will be made available in English, too.
SGGG is a very dense game--especially the SIM portion--and having a translated manual will help players understand what to do (beyond what is told to you in-game)."
Exxistance adds that ...
