Your Favorite Board Games
« on: January 12, 2011, 02:39:30 pm »
Enough with these damn digital games! What are your favorite board games? Y'know the ones made out of plastic and dead trees.

Here are my all-time favorites:

Stratego

I love this game. Chess was always too confusing for me, checkers was too simple and Risk too way too much time to play. Enter Stratego! Think of it as capture the flag meets minesweeper. I loved how you could customize where your soldiers, bombs and flag were. I had some pretty sneaky layouts. once I placed the flag in such an obvious place that my opponent walked right past it.

Clue
A classic. Like Stratego, it was easy to set up and play, but offered up a unique experience with every game.

HeroQuest
Milton Bradley's version of D&D, but much easier to learn and play. Plus you get it all in one box, expansions were not necessary though they did have them. I have the Return of the Witch Lord expansion, which adds skeletons and a Witch Lord to the mix. I'm gonna have to get this game back from my parents basement one of these days.

Not mine, just a photo from the net:

A card game I play is called Munchins, it's a parady of Dungeons and Dragons..
Good laughs.

Rarely play board games, but I played one called Articulate that was really fun recently.

Basically you get a subject and series of words/items related to that and have to describe them to your team-mate without saying the word, or any variations of it.

My cousins used to play board games all the time, they had one at their grandmas house that looked like Heroes Quest that I loved. I tried researching but nothing.

The other ones we did are the standard. Sorry, Monopoly and such.

I used to make my own board games when I was little. Some were pretty cool, especially the SEGA ones! I even made a few card games.

Obviously no one played them with me much.

I made a lot of my own board and card games as well when I was little.

The Uncle Wiggly game was one of my favorite games growing up. Although the one here must be a newer, shorter version because there are a ton more spaces in the version I own. I still like to play it every now and then. =)
