There are a lot more cross overs then that.

Recently;
Bayonetta, Pantasy Star Portable 2, Valkyria Chronicles, VC2 and Project Diva 1& 2 have had cross overs... Not to mention Sonic & Sega Racing.

Bayonetta was more references than crossovers, haven't played VC or PSP yet though. Did they actually have characters/places cross over though, or just have references/items that link to it?

You know how I feel about Sonic and Sega All-Stars racing... but i guess if I brought up Megamix it's fair to bring that up.

Valkyria Chronicles has Vyse, Aika and Fina from Skies of Arcadia playable.
Valkyria Chronicles 2 if you have a save file of Phantasy Star Portable 2 you can unlock characters and missions related too PSO.
PS: Portable 2 has clothes and weapons from other Sega games as does Project Diva.

You could also build Dural I think.

Virtua Fighter games have tons of SEGA cameos too, but mostly subtle things like character faces or just their names. Ryo Hazuki and Lan Di were in VF5 by name, WOO!

Also, just because I want to talk about Halo there is a slight reference to Virtual-On in one of the unlockable helmets.

Halo Reach has drivable forklifts. They are useless in the campaign. Is Bungie crying for Shenmue too?

Yakuza series has a running IF series that's based off of Virtua Fighter and if I remember correctly, the arcade games they have in the titles are both Outrun and Virtua Fighter 5.

Also an AiAi toy and music from NiGHTS and Billy Hatcher (WTF?) appear in Yakuza 4.

Well this game does show that Sega still thinks out of the box. I mean isn't this something that Metal gear Solid or HALO could have done considering soldiers vs zombies wouldn't be hard to sell than gangsters vs zombies. As usual Sega proves "to be this good...

I think the creators are just having fun, adding some variation, Do something else than the usual and also learn from the experience.

I can imagine it get kind of boring to keep doing the same thing year after year.

Shenmue 3 can't come soon enough though  :cry:
