20th Anni Sonic Toys - Give away Sonic G levels?
« on: April 23, 2011, 08:11:21 pm »
This may or may not be something... But here are some new Sonic Toys for the 20th

This may be a hit at the games, maybe even the levels based on the badnik characters.

I stole this infomation from someone far nerdier than I;
Quote
Sonic 1 - classic Sonic & Moto Bug
Sonic CD - classic Amy (2 pack with Sonic)
Sonic 2 - classic Tails & Grabber
Sonic 3 - classic Knuckles & ???
Sonic & Knuckles - classic Robotnik & EggRobo
Sonic Adventure - modern Sonic and Spinner
Sonic Adventure 2 - Shadow and GUN Beetle
Sonic Heroes - modern Knuckles and Egg Pawn
Sonic '06 - Silver and Iblis Biter (fire dog)
Sonic Unleashed - modern Eggman and Egg Fighter
Sonic Colors - modern Tails and Sandworm

This might have nothing to do with anything but something seems SUSPICIOUS. Also, they use the Motobug Sonic Generations look and the design of the Grabber (from Chemical Plant) is new.

I somehow feel like they just used random zones to represent them (they used Hydrocity tiles for the 1992 Tails figure with the Grabber) then thanks to where enemies appear in the game I would bet:

Sonic 1- Green Hill Zone (NO DUH, but come on, Classic Sonic with the Generations version of the Motobug even)
Sonic 2- Chemical Plant Zone (the Grabber design is also notably new, HMN)
Sonic 3- ??? (not seen clearly so can't say)
Sonic & Knuckles- Sky Sanctuary (Eggrobo with classic Robotnik hints to it)
Sonic CD- ??? (Classic Amy is included packed with Sonic as well as they are using the CD jump noise and some other inspirations from him)
Sonic Adventure- ??? (Spinners can be found in several stages)
Sonic Adventure 2- ??? (GUN Beatles are found in a lot of stages, but one would guess City Escape)
Sonic Heroes- ??? (Egg Pawns are in every stage and I seriously doubt they're using Seaside Hill. However, those Egg Pawns look updated...)
Sonic 06- Flame Core (it looks likely and the Iblis Biters were prominent there.)
Sonic Unleashed- ??? (Egg Fighters were in every stage of the game.)
Sonic Colors- Asteroid Coaster (those Sand Worms were ONLY found in Asteroid Coaster in Colors)

This is at least my take on it.

This seems like a mess. First thing I noticed was no Sonic the Hedgehog 4, but Colors? What?

No ice levels? No casino levels? Two grass levels? Two water levels?

This is random speculation and seems unlikely. If true, Holy Hell could they have picked a worse level out of Sonic 06? I did not even remember that existed.

I was talking about this exact thing on thursday over at sonic stadium. we came to the conclusion that the grabber was totally new as it wasnt in colors or 4, the knuckles is probably a dun goofed, ill bet its a S&K pack. its an interesting idea, though it wont hold water until we get a few more reveals that match up.

The first thing you noticed was that there wasn't a level for a game you keep going on about how much you hate and... that made you angry?

I very much doubt what people have guessed from this pretty hit and miss 'clue' is the real list at all.

I'm sure there will be a Snow level and a Casino level... There always is. I don't know what Green Hill Zone is if it isn't a 'grass level'

As for the Sonic 06 level, I never even played it so I wouldn't know but I doubt any are very memorable and it isnt as if we'll be replaying that level. The lay out is completely different if Green Hill is anything to go by. All that is the same is the backdrop.

What I do know is no matter WHAT they have choosen, there is bound to be a big moan about it because someones favourite level is bound to be missing...

Honestly the biggest mistake I see is not using Planet Wisp.

Seems interpretation of the levels is mixed, this is what I saw on neogaf

There's a strong chance it was made for Generations, meaning Chemical Plant Zone is in this game.

Whether any of the other toys imply anything is probably left up in to interpretation, but the game screenshots on the character names seem to be:

Green Hill Zone (Sonic 1)
Aquatic Ruin Zone (Sonic 2) OR Hydrocity Zone (Sonic 3)
Seaside Hill (Sonic Heroes)
City Escape (Sonic Adventure 2)
Crisis City (Sonic 2006)
Planet Wisp (Sonic Colors)

What? Where did I sound angry?

I just think it makes no sense that they would use spinoff stuff instead of one from the main series, especially one that JUST came out.

For the most part, the choices look like the first levels in the games, or at least the first level for that character in particular. I would not think about it too much, unless it was new art of the levels.

And actually no. There have been almost no casino levels in the games lately.

Almost all of the levels in Sonic 06 are a waste of time, yeah, but I can understand why they would want to put one of them in, for the fans and all. It will be really awful to have one level focus on weird looking monsters with bad art instead of normal robots, too.

I do not think it is that big of a deal. This concept seems too easy to do and far too basic to make this the ONLY game that does this kind of thing.

I hope Colors or Unleashed levels are not in at all...

What would be the point? Just a slightly new level with the same kind of physics and controls? If I wanted to do that I would just play a secondary act of Colors or Unleashed.

I can KIND of understand 06 levels because some were not all that bad, but otherwise, even this is kind of a waste.

Planet Wisp is one of my favourite Sonic levels in at least 10 years... It's like a better Windy Valley in aesthetic. I'd happily take a new level in that setting.

Same here. It's rare to find unique "zones" nowadays, so Planet Wisp surprised me! Aside from the lame name, I loved the aesthetics. Sort of reminded me of PSO's forest stage meets the mines stage. Sort of like an abandoned mining camp just after the rain (how poetic).

Sonic 4 and All Stars Racing?

If they were going to use levels from Colors, they probably wouldn't even be the same as the Wii version since they were built around Wisp abilities, which Generations does not have. As for Unleashed levels, don't see much of a point using levels from that game for a reason I don't know how to explain. And even then, Generations is basically the sequel with time travel instead of day/night and Classic Sonic instead of Werehog Sonic.

I think the whole thing is a coincidence. They are classic to modern Badniks mixed with Classic to Modern Sonic Characters. That's it.

maybe because the game is actually using the same engine so it's not a big deal to redesign some of it's levels now?
i sort of understand, but they said they will bring some levels from the modern era, so what games do we have so far since the Dreamcast era?

- Sonic Advance
- Sonic Heroes
- Sonic Advance 2
- Sonic Advance 3
- Sonic Rush
- Sonic 06
- Sonic & the Secret Rings
- Sonic Rush Adventure
- Sonic Unleashed
- Sonic & the Black Knight
- Sonic Colors

i don't think that SEGA will borrow any stages from the 2D games, if this is the case we have Heroes,Sonic06,SR,Unleashed,BK,Colors.
personally i would like them to choose stages from Unleashed & Colors , simply because in my opinion both of these games has some of the best levels in Sonic's History.
if they HAD to choose a level form Sonic06 then Kingdom Valley is the only decent stage.
and please no any crappy Heroes levels please!
