Just wanted to comment on Semmie, I personally don't see anything wrong with him, reminds me of some people I've seen when I'm out and about in the city. He is quite a passionate SEGA fan too, which is great.

I try to stay away from the moderating side of things here, let Barry and Kori handle that, with that said.. Semmie has definitely broke the rules at least once, he posted picture of cock xD, that could of got someone fired if they were browsing the forums at work, we have strict rules against posting images like that.

Other things he has done like the posts he makes at barry are walking a thin line, and since Barry is a mod, it's not a smart idea to make posts like that :P if Barry tells you to stop, you should probably stop.

I like Semmie, he's a cool guy. Just needs to control himself sometimes.

That's cool. I obviously don't see any of that stuff because you guys must take care of it right away. So that's probably why I saw his temp ban as kind of unprovoked.

Sorry to thread jack!

It's already been said, but play every Yakuza game you can.

No worries, I'm sorry for continuing the thread jacking. I just know there is a lot of emotions surrounding semmie from various members, and I just wanted to put things into perspective. I'm neutral on the whole matter, although I personally think he is a cool guy.

Anyways, enough of this. Back to talking about Yakuza, anymore off-topic posts will be removed :P /admin powers

To bring this all on topic. I guess the question is does Yakuza 1 have enough of the elements to warrant it as a play in its own right. Or is Yakuza 4 what GTA4 is to GTA3, a slicker, visually better version with the bad bits removed?

Isn't GTA4 itself a debatable game? Some fans hate it for other reasons vs GTA3.

I do like GTA3's exaggerated blood spills to this day....GTA4 is more realistic, but not as fun to play for me.

However, Yakuza is always a mad experience as the plot is never serious but it's one of those which you love...even if you play the older games it does the same bonkers things in terms of plot.
Big fan of Claymore, Miria in particular.

Currently playing Yakuza 0.

Haven't genuinely enjoyed a yakuza game ever since yakuza 3. Yakuza 1 & 2 were amazing ps2 experiences but standards rise, games improve and yakuza has been sticking with the same old untouched mechanics, and from 3 it just became noticable that it needed something more. Now it seems i'm just playing the games for the story which kind of sucks.

Edit: so my answer would be yes. The 1st game does have some noticably long loading times but it is worth it. The story is amazing
