Predict your post E3 next gen scenario.
« on: May 10, 2013, 03:47:00 pm »
With E3 so close, I am really excited about next gen. I can't remember the last time all the devs have been this secretive about their projects. This includes SEGA, Microsoft, EA and even with sony's last conference, I can imagine them having a few secrets to share with us as well. Or some of them just have nothing to show? I wouldn't believe that

E3 is gonna be crazy this year is what I imagine.

But what's next? Once they've dropped all the bombs and everyone has gone nuts about it. What are your predictions for Nintendo, Sony and microsoft till 2014?

Nintendo has been struggling with the Wii U's launch, and it seems everything since lego city and most wanted U, has been pushed back to Q3. Is nintendo planning to relaunch its console? Will nintendo have some tricks up its sleaves that will make the Wii U sell very well? Will its apeal grow with the 3rd parties eventually? I think all of those are quite possible for nintendo. The least likely seems to be grown 3rd party support, but I have the feeling that's also the case because big devs can't take big risks anymore.

What about sony? One of the big 3 that's pushing a more powerful console. Let's say they launch with a bang and manage to sell at least around 5/6 million before 2014. Will it be enough to compensate the higher costs for developing games for such small playerbases? How is this gonna help the 3rd parties? It seems kind of risky to me. I have a feeling that the launch for sony's ps4 is gonna be just as disastrous as the Wii U. The reason I think this is because I imagine its gonna be too expensive with the recent news that theyre not planning to sell their console for a loss, but also because of the more expensive dev costs which a launch playerbase is not gonna help compensate.

Microsoft uhh. Well I'm not a big fan of them personally, but I have a feeling they're gonna do some surprising stuff. From the 3, they have spoken the least about what they're doing. Tbh I think microsoft is really gonna surprise us with something unexpected, and may be focussing more on the mainstream casual non gamer just as much as the gamers. Some people may dislike this, but it could result in a potential big audience. That and microsoft is capable to take more risks than the other 2 because they have more moneyz. They just recently shared a profit.

Anyway in summary I would say Nintendo will hopefully recover from a slow start, sony may struggle despite doing everything right and microsoft succeed chasing the mass market.
