Riichiro Yamada (producer for the new Virtua Fighter project): "I'll be satisfied if players just get a vague sense that 'this feels different from other games'."

It's important that Virtua Fighter is able to be unique while still being recognized as "Virtua Fighter." Although they can't make the gameplay exactly like what we saw during the NVIDIA presentation, it makes for a good goal to get it as close as possible.
"Honestly, I'll be satisfied if players just get a vague sense that 'this feels different from other games,'" continued Yamada. "That said, for the development team, that concept movie serves as a clear target to aim for, something we strive to achieve as closely as possible."
Yamada then continues to say that development for the new Virtua Fighter project is progressing, but notes that ...

I simply haven't purchased any brand-new consoles since the Wii U. Not that I will emulate games currently on the market, but I'm using emulators for both exclusives and abandonware games as well as I don't have to set up actual consoles for it, taking up space.

Though, I will admit, a few Switch games have caught my eye. Such as Pokémon Sword/Shield, Pokémon Legends and Tears of the Kingdom.
Though even Sword/Shield looked dodgy in quality.

Just because they looked dodgy, doesn't mean they weren't fun to play. In graphic Nintendo game's always left behind but gameplay's always solid.

I haven't played Virtua Fighter since... Sega Saturn as far as I recall. So I'm genuinely getting intrigued for this game.

Somewhere in the multiverse, there is a "Sega vs Nintendo Smash Bros." game that I'll never get to play.

Yes, well, I still don't want to buy a Nintendo Switch if I'm only going to use it for the two or three games. Seems wasteful. But given Nintendo doesn't release official emulators or PC releases, all I can do I guess is wait a decade or so until the Switch is regarded a dated console. And even still, I doubt Nintendo's legal team would be all that gracious with Nintendo emulators.

As long as the don't change the gameplay drastically, I'm in.
I don't care about the story or graphic if I can't enjoy the gameplay.
I read there will be two kind of gameplay, classic and modern, so probably most old fans wouldn't be left out.

There are lot of exclusive SEGA games in Switch, only if you like classic series in SEGA AGES.

I imagine they will be re-using parts of Yakuza's programming to make it, which in turn was inspired by Shenmues gameplay which in turn was inspired by Virtua Fighters gameplay, so all good.

Did you try to post an image? It didn't come through. Sega games for Switch are either multiplatform, or classic ones I can get on emulators.

I would like to play some of the Sega Ages 2500 games, but might need to get a PlayStation emulator for them. Such as Golden Axe or Phantasy Star Complete Collection.

Hopefully it's not too saucy as Yakuza. Getting Mature rating would prevent the game into joining EVO.

Yes, I guess UK (or your internet provider) is still blocking Twitter images.

No, they're not multiplatform or same with the original classic.
They add things to the game that changes the whole thing.
For example ... adding auto map function to Phantasy Star is a huge difference to the game.

SEGA Ages Golden Axe (PS2)'s gameplay sadly is worse than the original arcade or genesis/pc port. Still back then it was cool to see Ax, Tyris, and Gilius in 3D.

Doubt it would be. I mean, I know some fighters like to show a bit of skin, but that's about it.

I should consider a VPN sooner or later. UK is starting to feel a bit totalitarian by the year.

Sega Ages games are still old enough for emulators. Unless Sega release them on Steam anytime soon, which I doubt given they took away classic Sega games from it.

Who knows how the next Virtua Fighter later turn out, may be if they went Yakuza route and had adult mini games.
Remember Dead or Alive 6 got banned from EVO Japan because of things that's not in the core game.

For me, it's Reddit pictures since my country is blocking Reddit.
I got to use VPN to see it if you attach a Reddit picture here.

SEGA Ages in Switch is different with Sega Ages 2500 for PlayStation 2.

Yes, it's an expedited ability called "Skull Shield" in which he summons the spirit of an ancient Air Pirate to defend and counterattack for his crew.

I imagine New Virtua Fighter will have a storymode that is standard for most fighting games. A series of fights with cutscenes between them. Maybe there will be Shenmue-like gameplay of having to go from one place to another and talking to NPCs for progression. And like Shenmue, fights may break out that will switch to a sub-fighting round. But I'm fine if it's purely cutscenes.

Oh I rarely attack Reddit pictures given they're a fickle to get the URL for code.
SEGA Ages in Switch is different with Sega Ages 2500 for PlayStation 2.
Really? How so? (I don't want to use any emulators for anything as recent as seventh-generation consoles, i believe piracy/emulation has more leniancy if the content is outdated/abandonware or dated-exclusives. If I were to emulate Switch 1/2, PlayStation 4/5 or XBox One/X|S games, I think I'd be more in legal hot water.)

Nice! Can't wait until I get that far. Though, of late, been distracted by Virtua Quest.
Virtua Quest isn't on my Sega bucket List, just been curious how bad/good it really is and got distracted by playing it more than Skies of Arcadia.

I assume Virtua Fighter's story mode will be like Street Fighter VI's.
We have a story mode and arcade mode.
Story mode will feature us as a customizable player avatar exploring 3D environments, such as Yakuza's Kamurochō (which is a realistic recreation of Tokyo's Kabukicho district) and then we met all of the Virtua Fighter characters in the story.
They could be our opponents or our teacher or both in the story mode.
We'll know their back story or motivation during our conservations with them.
For each character story, we have to play the arcade mode.

Really? How so? They shared the name "SEGA AGES" but the game list are different.
For example ...
Switch has Herzog Zwei, Shinobi, and Alex Kidd but PS2 version doesn't.
PS2 has Last Bronx, Gunstar Heroes, and Panzer Dragoon but Switch version doesn't.

PS2 SEGA AGES was a joint venture between Sega and D3Publisher while Switch SEGA AGES was a joint venture between Sega and M2, continuing their 3D SEGA series colaboration on 3DS.

Nice! Can't wait until I get that far. Though, of late, been distracted by Virtua Quest.

It might be a spin-off but ironically it's a game in Virtua Fighter franchise that has most story in the game, lol, at least until the new Virtua Fighter arrived later.
