The Sonic series total sales has been updated to 150 million from 140 million from last May. What is amazing is that I don't think SEGA includes every game Sonic has appeared in as a core character (Such as the SEGA Racing titles or the Mario & Sonic game.) since Sonic Dash alone represents 78 million units (What an amazing success for Hardlight.) for that figure alone. Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2's sales on the Mega Drive alone hit 21 million, throw in the digital re-release for both games and that figure is closer to 40 million (Sonic the Hedgehog 1 got 8 million sales alone.) so the actual figure for the franchise is probably closer to 200 million.

Some other figures;
Sonic the Hedgehog: 150 million (units / downloads)
Puyo Puyo: 13.5 million (units / downloads)
Yakuza/Ryu Ga Gotoku: 7.8 million (units / downloads)
Shin Megami Tensei: 7 million (packaged)
Persona: 6.2 million (Packaged)
Etrian Odyssey: 1.2 million (Packaged)
Project Diva feat Hatsune Miku: 4.5 million (units / downloads)

A big shame they excluded the Total War series (Probably over 15 million sales.) and Football Manager from the total.

Wow, what a number for Sonic. What about Phantasy Star Online 2? Any data of it?

PSO2 had 3.5 million registered users in June 2014.

Also has 1 million registered users in PSVita and aprox. 200k people playing everyday.

Yeah, that's a big number.

Fabulous!! More than what I've guessed.
I wonder why SOA's still hesitating to localize it.

They simply mentioned Jet Set Radio, because Yokoyama now makes Ryu Ga Gotoku.
Same how Fighting Vipers is mentioned when Kataoka was mentioned, in the last
report.

Yes but JSR is at the same place where YAKUZA is made when Amusement Vision merged with Smilebit. And now as YAKUZA STUDIO they styill have the power to make any game they like..and there's still members that want to do JSR. Far different to FV.

Anywho, this report is most likely confusing to classic Sega fans and typical
gaming journalists.

Gamblings, Casinos, Amusement resorts, Arcade machines that aren't
shooting/racing games, Online games and smartphone gaming, Asian market
etc.

Only about 5% seem relevant to western gamers, which are games we
want localized and Sega's PC games.

This isn't for western gamers though..that's the point NO ONE understands..its for investors.

Tough, Sega still seems to seemingly be allowed to release smaller packaged
games in Japan, Atlus even talked about creating new IP, and Nagoshi said they
are sure to release more children IP's (Level 5 type of games).
We will see...

Seems as tough the Arcade divisions are struggling to find a new hit. Seems like
THE WORLD OF THREE KINGDOMS didn't do it. Maybe Wonderland Wars will do it.

The arcades falling was predicatable..because Sega has kept the same shit going for over 15 years now...card games card games..dance games..and only a few gems inbetween...and most of them are kid games..hobbie games and semi attraction rides..they need a new stick to draw people back in..maybe going back to basics...

I think pretty much everyone that worked at Fighting Vipers is still at Sega, so yeah I think no difference.

You speak of going back to the basics Arcade games...but since the introduction of VF5, has it ever been mentioned in a fiscal report?

What the game residing with the same team with that guy in it? Not really especially when the leader of AM2 is no longer AT sega..big difference.JSR has many of the same people still in the team where the game now resides with. And they're in prominent posistions in a team that Sega will back to the hilt.

Comeon...have you seen the size of the SANKOKUSHI TAISEN, WWCF games? What about BORDERBREAK and SHINING FORCE? They're not basic games..they're quite big cabinet arcade titles. I think Sega needs to come out with simple idea and a simple arcade cabinet instead of these masive multiplayer arcade games thatt hey've been doing.VF5 is the exception but hasn't been the rule for years....

Kataoka was the director of Fighting Vipers, and Suzuki didn't do much in that game.

Ever since VF4, all the FV people work on that franchise.

I read on SSMB that PS4 and XBOX One have increased SEGA's confidence in the package games market despite overall lowered confidence. The Nintendo deal must of really disappointed them.

Well if anyone had any doubt about the next Sonic game not being multiplatform, obviously no need to worry now.

I don't see how they should be disappointed/surprised that the shitty games they released on a constipated platform didn't sell well.  If I were Nintendo, I'd honestly be pretty pissed.

The point remains the same..that game GOT made because it was Yu Suzuki and he was involved..you'd think Sega would waste money doing a sequel to that game if Yu wasn't part of it?

Well, the the Art Director of JSR isn't with Sega either anymore.

Also, they made After Burner Climax and Outrun 2 without Suzuki.

They also happen to be sequels to Sega's best selling and classic games. Different case. FV wasn't exactly a big hit..and not enough to genrate a sequel. Like i said they have more than enough to do JSR if they wanted to..and this report is a big advert for them to bring in investors because they trying to expand on their resort plans. So mentioning a game like JSR in this report is pretty suspect...hey..they may not do anything with it like you said..but concerning the way this report was structured. i believe it to be suspect..that's all..

Yes another undiscovered gem from the masses of gamers..on a console totally ruined by SOJ. The sequel appeared on arcades and was ported for DC...which i managed to get.

And have those games shame SOJ efforts? No way. This is how stupid they still are after all this time. They give the sales of ATLUS titles..when Sega didn't own them. But left out the sega west efforts which is still the best company performer on a year to year basis since they were brought by Sega.Typical SOJ nonsense yet again..If they had included them..it would have made it a better attraction to investors..but then then they might start asking why this game is treated as a marquee game when this title outsells that game ten to 1...

Nintendo got screwed hard in the ass by Iizuka. 3 abominations in a row lmfao. What a great deal. I guess lost world was alright for a playthrough.... but man.
