Not to hijack, we posted a news bit on it: http://segabits.com/blog/2015/02/11/3d-streets-of-rage-2-gets-rated-in-australia-could-come-to-your-3ds-soon/

Nothing new that you didn't know from Berto's link.

That being said, FUCK YES! Streets of Rage 2 is awesome, music is great. I Can't wait for them to do 3 so they can perfect it (it had potential, but the American version was ridiculous).

Whoops.. My bad. Should have read the site first before the forum..

So, if this is turn out to be true, I guess M2 finally find a way to make 3D on diagonally scrolling stages.
Because that problem was the one that stopped them to make 3D Golden Axe before.

Quote
Yousuke Okunari : I still wanted to remake the Golden Axe or Streets of Rage series in 3D. I saw this as essentially intertwined with the future of the 3D Remaster Project, so I kept coming back to M2 with the idea. I’d say: “Hey, we can at least do one beat ‘em up, right?” and he’d tell me: “Side-scrolling beat’em ups have graphics with weird faux perspectives that you can’t just carry over into 3D. The normal approach doesn’t work.”

After a bit, he came back and said, “Now the first Streets of Rage doesn’t have any paths that go up or down the screen, there’s just one path forward. We could probably make that one work.” That’s how I persuaded him to work on it… Then, as he was explaining that they still hadn’t tested everything out yet, I cut through the hemming and hawing and green-lit the project. (laughs).

I didn't play much of the 16-bit version, so having it portable will nostalgia-bomb the crap out of my time spent with the awesome Game Gear port.

So what would you guys like to see for a Wave 3?

Wave 1 was a mix of console and arcade titles, wave 2 was all arcade, think wave 3 will be Genesis/Mega Drive?

I'd like to see: 3D Streets of Rage 2 (Gen/MD), 3D Golden Axe (arcade), 3D Space Harrier II (Gen/MD), 3D Shinobi (arcade), 3D Power Drift (arcade), and the 3D ports of Space Harrier 3D and OutRun 3D initially exclusive to the packaged release in Japan

As someone who doesn't own a 3DS, how are the ports of these games? better than the Backbone ones? I wouldn't mind seeing them release some of these as a bundle on consoles and PC. I guess they don't see much point with the existing collections, even though they seem quite poor.

The arcade titles are truly excellent, 3D Space Harrier is probably my favorite home release of the game.

The Genesis/Mega Drive ports are fine, but 2D sidescrollers aren't as great in 3D as the arcade titles. I will say that the invincibility mode 3D Ecco had finally allowed me to play the game all the way through (I don't own it on Genesis, only SEGA CD, so I've never been able to use Game Genie on it).

I would finally like to see a console port of Golden Axe: Return of Death Adder.

I'd be interested in that too. I've never seen the arcade game, but in Sega Mega Drive/Genesis: Collected Works, there is an interview with Makoto Uchida, who designed Golden Axe and The Revenge of Death Adder. He says of Golden Axe: "The game is the result of a high level of perfectionism. The same can be said of the sequel, The Revenge of Death Adder - it's a shame that there was no console version, but it makes me so happy when I still find it working in an everyday place, such as a pizzeria." Well, it's time to bring deliver this pizza to everyone's home.

My wish for wave 3 : 3D Streets of Rage 2 (Gen/MD), 3D Golden Axe (arcade), 3D Space Harrier II (Gen/MD), 3D Virtua Racing (arcade), and 3D Moonwalker (arcade)

I hope in the all new wave 3 games, they'll also make the hilarious staff credits ending like they did with 3D After Burner II, 3D Fantasy Zone (I&II), 3D Outrun, and 3D Thunder Blade.

Here's from 3D After Burner II btw :

Staff credit endings in the package version are even more funny and hilarious, it shows every chars of all this game (plus Alex Kidd) interact with one another, for example : Shinobi's riding a whale against Ecco The Dolphin, Opaopa and Space Harrier teams up against Wiwi Jumbo, etc.

Another game that doesn't get enough love: 3D Outrunners would be cool too.

I thought there was no Wave 3?

But anyway even though I don't own a 3DS I would like to see:
Streets of Rage 2, GunStar Heroes, Sonic 2, Alien Soldier, Golden Axe: Return of Death Adder, Flicky.
