BioWare, the studio behind Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age is shutting down (following 400 people facing layoffs by EA) after more than 30 years.

Quote
After establishing itself in the PC gaming canon in the '90s and early 2000s, BioWare was acquired by Electronic Arts in 2007, and became a mainstream RPG powerhouse with the release of the Mass Effect trilogy and first Dragon Age games.

A 2017 follow-up to the Mass Effect trilogy, Andromeda, wasn't as well-received as the originals, and the studio's 2019 detour into live service shooters, Anthem, failed to catch on. Anthem is widely considered one of the great management blunders of the live service gold rush, and its servers were finally shut down for good earlier this ...

I really don't think Big Tech will give up on AI, even if it's risky or lots of anti-AI sentiments. But do you think green AI could be possible?

Well, yes. For example we got GreenPT afterall.
It's just not cost-friendly right now compared to the famous ones.

True. i do miss when Sonic Team had seasonal events for their games, but they haven't done that since the Dreamcast-era.

That's not true either. Sonic Rumble Party was made by Sonic Team themselves and it has all of these seasonal events including Halloween right now.

Well, as I said, I'd like to use AI for a tool of creativity than to just ask "Make a Sonic-themed Yule Log for me". I could probably try remaking it on SFM sometime.

Do it, man. I'm not anti AI so don't worry about sharing the result to me later when it's finished.

So these data centres needed for AIs, they take up land that locals regard an eye-sore, produce a lot of heat and require a lot of water for cooling.

What if, they move the data farms to Alaska?
  • Alaska is sparsely populated.
  • Cooling would be no issue, just open a window.
  • If they still need water, the heat can just melt the surrounding ice to be used for cooling water.

Well, yeah. But I mean their mainline games.
Like when Twinkle Park had that Halloween party!

It'll take a long while. Not that I need AI for it.

When I tried to make the original video on SFM, I tried using textures from Twinkle Park. While Dreamcast-era Sonic does have his own aesthetic, it's hard putting it in a living room scene. Even the Sonic 2 Yule Log video was bare-minimal in Sonic aesthetics.
