Yakuza Kiwami (Y1 Remake) and Yakuza 6 announced!

You realise we're not just one hive mind all with the same opinion right?

Most people on this forum have been asking for Yakuza to be set outside of Japan for a while, I even wanted a Wild West Yakuza game with Kiryu being a samurai in the old West. I'd argue it's been one of the most common request from Western fans :/

Really curious how they will handle America... Very different street culture and roads. 

I expect first screenshots would pop up on a Famitsu issue in a month or two.

I think they might delay it until after Kiwami is released.

I always wanted them to do half the game in China with triads and have one of the playable characters a Chinese person within the triad game that has gone out of control (sorta how Kazuma has to come in and fix shit in his gang). Make this person the Chinese Kazuma, where they eventually met (maybe have them fuck with something where Kazuma is forced to leave Japan to fix in China) and go after the same bad guy. Can even have a twist where some of Kazuma's close friends have been working with triads this whole time or something.

It would work way better than America.

It would've been cool if there was a Yakuza set in early Showa period Japan, in the 40s or 30s. Like if it has the vibes and atmosphere of old Yakuza movies like Drunken Angel, run down and dirty slums.

It will probably happen somewhere down the road, I just hope the protagonist is not "NotKiryuKazuma", and actually some entirely new character with distinct personality and looks.

Im not sure why everyone is so fussed about the US setting, its the most well represented setting in all of gaming, I'm bored of it... I do want to leave the usual setting though. It has come to a point where every time I see that Red sign Kamarocho sign I sigh.

I wouldn't go that far myself . Japan it's self got to be right up there it's self no least From SEGA Japan where loads of games take place in Japan . Anywhere other than Japan would now be fresh for Yakuza - to get rid of that same look to the landscape , the same look when you go into a hotel or Arcade.

Agreed you go down a mean Yakuza game there and also maybe use some of the old Shenmue resarch data to help the team too
