That does make more sense to me, though why wasn't it properly explained in the film?
Also, is COLOURFUL STAGE! like, the general lore around Vocaloid and Hatsune Miku? Or is it separate? Which, if Vocaloids are a separate continuity to CS!, that brings me back round to what exactly is the Vocaloid-lore?
I think they just assumed people who watched the movie already played or at least tried the game.
It's a free mobile game afterall that everyone can donwload and SEGA's most succesful one.
Thye forgot that every movie can be someone's first, just like every Sonic game could be someone's first Sonic game, that's why because of this mindset, individual main Sonic games do not require deep knowledge of previous lore, past continuity, or obscure side characters to understand what is happening, which means SEGA rarely builds deep, permanent progressive growth or radical changes into the core cast's status quo from game to game, ensuring the universe stays simple and welcoming for newcomers ... oops, okay, I went too far, let's go back to the topic.
And no, the COLOURFUL STAGE! is not the general lore around Vocaloid and Hatsune Miku.
It's a separated universe that's unique to SEGA published games.
It has nothing to do with the original Vocaloids from Crypton Future.
All SEKAI Mikus could only be used in the SEGA games, or if outside than that at least it needs permission or be under licensed by SEGA.
All human characters (Ichika, Emu, Minori, Kohane, Mafuyu, etc) also belong to SEGA, not Crypton Future.
