Isn't a publisher someone who puts the game out there? Nintendo "publish" the games on their console!

No, publisher is more than that.
They usually do the funding, worldwide licensing, rating approval process, and marketing.
Sometimes they take care of IPs too since maintaining IP is not cheap.
Developer only focus on one thing : making the game.

For example Demon Slayer game.
Aniplex and Cyberconnect could only do so much in Japan market.
They have no resources to release it worldwide.
That's where SEGA step in as publisher for worldwide release.

Nintendo are also game developers. They could of send someone to assist Sonic Team in the development. You know, as "partners" do when they "collaborate".

Instead it was more like "We will publish your three games as long as  your main installment to Sonic series practically worships Super Mario."

Unless SEGA asked for their help, they won't do that.
As I said before, Platform holder's suddenly interfering what the publisher do could be interpreted as an insult to the publisher.
This happened quite often with Sony lately with their new censorship policy.

Teppen Jurassic Rampage tells the tale of what happens when Dino Crisis‘ resident mad scientist Edward Kirk gets his hands on the powerful “Third Energy”.
Spoiler: The result is dinosaurs.
Pulled in from beyond time and space, invasive dinosaur species have invaded and disrupted the island’s ecology.

I guess... but Rise of Lyric was pretty much an insult to most everybody.

Yeah, even the spinoff, the 2D ones, are better than it.
Especially Fire & Ice,
Famitsu loves it so much it score higher than Sonic Mania.  ???

Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric : 6/7/6/7
Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal (3DS) – 6/7/7/7
Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice (3DS) – 9/8/9/8
Sonic Mania – 8/8/8/8

Japanese Anniversary version of the game is even bundling it with 3D Crystal merchandise.

It's a pity SONIC BOOM was more of a dud.

I'd rather not talking bad about Boom franchise since it's kind of like adult talking bad about Barney, Paw patrols, or Thomas The Tank Engine.
Those are shows that definitely weren't aimed at me.
Aaron already said Sonic Boom was supposed to be a branch of the franchise aimed at younger kids.
At Younger Kids.
Even in Japan they rename "Sonic Boom" title into "Sonic Toon" to make fans know that it's targeted for kids.

SNK’s Yasuyuki Oda: ‘Both parties interested’ in SNK vs. Capcom revival

Quote
Oda said that the collaborative promotional posters featuring both SNK and Capcom games sold at EVO 2022 in August “reconfirmed” the public’s interest in a potential revival.
“We haven’t really talked in detail with anybody at Capcom about it. It might have come up as a vague comment.
However, we have a lot of experience (in crossovers) with things like Akuma and Geese in Tekken, Terry (Bogard) in Fighting EX Layer, Terry in Smash Bros., and Baiken in Samurai Showdown…"

I maybe an adult but I still think my criticisms are fair against Sonic Boom. Especially when comparing the story writing and comedy of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Like Sonic Boom, AoSTH was more catered for younger audience in comparison to it's SatAM counterpart. Thus it used Looney Tunes=like slapstick humour while still having stories around adventure and heroics, two kinds of genre we rarely see combined in children cartoons back then.

To me, Sonic Boom "tries to be funny". It uses rather spontaneous humour in order to appeal to the audience in entertainment. Such as spontaneous dancing or trying to be the next meme for all the internet kiddies. It just didn't work. It just felt like dumb "shovel humour", just whatever funny to make kids laugh. The kind of shovel humour Teen Titans Go! is notorious for.

AoSTH, it was more fun to watch than funny but still had it's moments of humour that made it worth while. It silliness was not spontaneous and felt natural which complimented the overall comedy of the show.

Because of that, AoSTH became a great kids show for Sonic fans and it was a meme-starter.

Sonic Boom just felt blatant, forced and at times cringe. Even going as far as ripping off memes.

In all honesty, Dr. Eggman was perhaps the most entertaining character in Sonic Boom, going as far as stealing the show in most episodes. Which is ironic given in comparison to AoSTH Dr. Robotnik and Sega's Dr. Eggman he was a poor excuse for a villain.

You got a point and I agree with most of it.
Not to mention the scope is just in that isolated island,
hard to think that Eggman is a threat of the world.
Still Mike Pollock did his best as Eggman.

What I meant were more on the games though.
Games that are based on kids' show.
It's kinda hard to give reviews for them.
Both my kids love Shattered Crystal and Fire & Ice while I thought the game are just okay.
But they also love these games too ....

... so guess they are really the target.
They still don't like Barney game though.
The game is really weird,
it started playing by itself if we don't touch it for some minutes.

Still waiting the day where they'll play Street Fighter, Virtua Fighter, or Marvel VS against me,
but so far they still have no interest of them.

The N3DS games I can't complain about that much because they were less humor, more gaming so it has it's own entertainment value.

Though will say making the player go through all the effort collecting those badges just for a dance party is just so Boom TV show cringe.

Why do children TV shows these days think making characters dance is funny? It's not. It's just dancing. And not even good dance moves.

Thankfully I hadn't collect all badges back then so I didn't know that we'll only get that weird dancing scene.
I thought it'll only unlock more concept artworks like this :

or more songs for jukebox so I didn't bother to do it.

I'd settle for unlockable concept art and music than just some dance scene.

Funny thing is ... the Sanzaru dancing monkey in the end credit is more fun to watch than that Sonic and friends' zombie-like dance scene.

I feel like that monkey should be meme'd by now.
