Shinobi - The Legendary Ninja-action Game Franchise

Quote
Debuting on the SEGA System 16 arcade hardware, Shinobi is a side scrolling action and platforming game featuring Joe Musashi as he uses ninja martial arts and weapons to attack enemies of the Zeed Organization while saving the children of the Oboro Clan.
In addition, you can use the killing Ninjutsu technique to wipe out the enemies in the screen and encounter bosses appears at the end of each mission with extraordinary battles such as a helicopter carrying a ninja army and a huge computer protected by a Buddha statue.
The series has expanded to include a dozen other Shinobi titles and Shinobi's code name has been used by various ninjas, such as Jiro Musashi, Joe Musashi, Hotsuma, Hibana, and Honoka.

Nintendo Switch 2 Rumored to Get 5 Big Games from SEGA

Quote
According to user @MbKKssTBhz5 on X, all five of the games that Sega announced back in December at The Game Awards are in the works for Nintendo Switch 2. During this event, Sega revealed that it was in the process of remaking or creating new entries associated with Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and Crazy Taxi. Specifics tied to each weren't divulged, but Sega did happen to ...

Knuckles designer Takashi Yuda / 湯田高志 (AKA Thomas Yudaa) liked to leave his signature here and there in the first games he worked on.

Quote
For example, Takashi Yuda's signature spotted on the lower right of World of Illusion's final boss stage.
I should take a deeper look at Castle of Illusion, World of Illusion and Sonic 3.

Shadow Gangs II (SEGA Dreamcast, Neo Geo, PC) - All art is finished

Quote
Shadow Gangs II
All art is finished, left now is programming.
I have big plans for SGII, but I will not start programming it until Shadow Gangs Zero (NeoGeo) is out first.
At least 3 to 4 years wait for SGII...
SG Zero however, will try to get it out in 2025...

SHINOBI LEGIONS - New Cheat Code and Patch

Quote
Here's a bonkers cheat code for SHINOBI LEGIONS…
• Go to Options
• Set Music to 2-3
• Set S.E. to 06
• Select Audio and put in a *40 button* code

Reward? A fully-featured debug mode with level select, free movement, and more.

I made a patch so you don't have to actually put in the button code:
https://tinyurl.com/49vbm77y

When debug mode is active, pause and press R to call up the menu for level select and such.
L+R+Z is free movement with no collision; you can fly through walls and doors.
L+X performs special moves, which you can select from the menu.

Sega Saturn Is Getting A Fan-Made Remake Of Revenge Of Shinobi

Quote
Coded by Pigsy (the same person who is bringing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night to the Mega Drive) using Johannes Fetz's JoEngine, this update will boast more background layers, improved colours, better animation, a CD-quality soundtrack and "more open" level design.
Originally released in Japan as The Super Shinobi in 1989, the game is a sequel to the 1987 arcade release Shinobi. A dazzling showcase of the Mega Drive's power, it also boasts an incredible soundtrack from Yuzo Koshiro. The game would ...

Free Shinobi costume DLC for Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble being offered via email newsletter

Quote
If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll notice that Sega’s been doing this a lot with brand new Sega releases. From Soap shoes for Sonic, to a modern dress for Amy, to a Hello Work uniform for Ichiban Kasuga, Sega’s sure making a habit of giving away free cosmetic DLC in exchange for signing up for an email newsletter for upcoming games. Of course, in the months following the release of those games, all that DLC has been released onto the various digital storefronts, still free of charge, but until then, the email newsletter was the only way to get the DLC as long as ...

Sega's Shadow Dancer Comes To Analogue Pocket And MiSTer

Quote
FPGA developer Jotego has just released his long-awaited Sega System 18 core for Analogue Pocket and MiSTer.
The core – which is still in beta and only available to Jotego's Patreon supporters at the moment – already has its first compatible games, with the 1989 arcade classic Shadow Dancer, which forms part of the Shinobi series, leading the charge.
"The beta seems quite solid after a lot of testing, and the game feels great to play," says Jotego. "This is a game that pays back your investment. It does not play tricks on you or abuse of random patterns. Hence, it is a game you can master rather quickly. As you know, ...

Homebrew Dev Acquires 'Tengen' Brand

Quote
Now, in 2024, one sole developer by the name of Jeff Silvers has managed to acquire the Tengen name and has used this to create a brand new company called 'Tengen Games'.
According to the website, Silvers had conducted research in 2022 and discovered that nobody owned the Tengen name at the time, so simply began a lengthy process of officially registering it with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The registration is now currently in the 'final stages' of completion.
Rather fittingly, Tengen Games' first title is an unlicensed NES game called Zed and Zee, an 8-bit arcade-style action platformer that can be purchased for the NES, Famicom, and Windows. There's no ...
