Project Sekai is officially released today!

For now the game will be released only in Japanese.
The staff are gradually starting to consider an oversea release in the future but nothing more at this time.

Story :





The game is set in Shibuya, Tokyo. A girl named Hoshino Ichika, walks through the streets and sees an LCD screen displaying Hatsune Miku.
Upon returning home, she discovers a song named "Untitled" on her smartphone.
Out of curiously, Ichika plays the songs, only to get surrounded by a white light and arrive at an unknown place.
Miku stands in front of Ichika, welcoming her to Sekai, and inviting her to sing together.

Trivia : Ichika is an ambassador for Pocari Sweat, a sports drink brand, and has appeared in the web movies "Nechusho No!No!" and "Tokyo Supply Girl".

A part Lupin the Third, several parts Professor Layton (for dummies)
and a few parts of classic Sega rhythm games like Feel the Magic, Samba De Amigo and Space Channel 5.

Rhythm Thief tells a wonderful tale, is full of great characters and leaves me wanting more.
I’m really hoping for a sequel since the ending is left wide open for one.
If you’re a fan of games like Rhythm Heaven, Feel the Magic or Space Channel 5,
then Rhythm Thief is an absolute must buy.

Developer Retrospective: Experience synesthesia with SEGA’s United Game Artists

United Game Artists’ first game would be the cosmic adventure known as Space Channel 5,
a game that follows Space Channel 5 reporter Ulala as she is tasked to up the ratings of the channel and stop evil Morolians from forcing the galaxy to dance.
The game is also noted for having a appearance by Michael Jackson, who goes by “Space Michael.”
Michael Jackson was shown the game when it was a little over half way complete and asked if he could be in it.
Space Channel 5 would later inspire SEGA games like Hatsune Miku Project Diva.

Game best experienced on Dreamcast: Samba de Amigo

Samba de Amigo Version 2000 remains the best version of the game to this day,
largely thanks to its well made and well implemented maraca motion controls.
These controls easily trump the motion controls of the 2008 Wii port, thanks in no small part to the specialized nature of the peripheral.
Samba de Amigo was a very forward thinking game, and because of this it has aged very well.

Classic SEGA Magazine Corner: The Official Dreamcast Magazine blasts off with Space Channel 5

During their short run, the US Official Dreamcast Magazine managed to produce some excellent covers showcasing a wide range of Dreamcast titles.
Unlike other gaming magazines tied to a single company, ODCM didn’t rely on mascots to sell the latest issue.
Amazingly, Sonic only appeared on two covers during the magazine’s run; the promotional Issue 0 and the premiere issue.
In this installment of Classic SEGA Magazine Corner we’re taking a look at issue 4 which gave Space Channel 5‘s Ulala the cover treatment, a full introductory spread,
and the top slot in an article about great Dreamcast games due for release in 2000.

Trivia : Space Channel 5 Part 2‘s Shadow, leader of the Rhythm Rogues is a non-playable enemy character on Project X Zone 2 (3DS)
And since Ulala is a playable character, meaning players can pit Ulala against her former foe.

SEGA Retrospective: The Music of JSRF
Singing a Tune that’s both Unique and Familiar

The Latch Brothers’ music adds a lot of character to what’s otherwise the game’s least interesting location (the sewers) and their style further differentiates the soundtrack of Future from its predecessor, adding a more Western flavor, though its Western roots are (to their credit) not too glaringly obvious unless you’re already aware of the group’s origin.
Their music incorporates distortion beautifully and has a true hip hop feel without being hip hop, and it’s surprising, especially considering the Beastie Boys connection, that they weren’t bigger than they were.
