CHUNITHM SUPERSTAR Launched Today !!!

Today is the earliest estimated launch date of CHUNITHM SUPERSTAR!!
In this BIG day, our game producer Koha-D has prepared a letter for us :

==========

Dear Friends,

Hello!
I am Koha-D, the general director of SEGA arcade music games.

It has been a while since we have first announced and introduced CHUNITHM International Version.
Finally, the International Version will be starting with ‘CHUNITHM SUPERSTAR’!!

If you are reading this letter, I’m sure that you are a fan of CHUNITHM or at least you are interested in it.
Most of the contents within this letter may not be new to many of you.
However, please let me take this chance to officially introduce ‘CHUNITHM’ and ‘SUPERSTAR’ to everyone!

> What is CHUNITHM?

CHUNITHM is an arcade-music game presented by SEGA and firstly launched on the 16th of July 2015.

CHUNITHM was the second music-game that I have created right after maimai.
We earned precious experiences and know-how through maimai development and operation.
At that time, we were aiming to create a game which all Music Games fans are mostly desired. And hoping the game can entertain everyone as well.

It is a game that can be controlled intuitively and in a certain space.
It is a game that greedily gather different songs from different genres.
It is a game that includes gorgeous collaborated and original songs.
It is a game that gained a lot of supports from players immediately since it launched.

CHUNITMH has been through several versions already: AIR→STAR→AMAZON→CRYSTAL.
It now has around 2 million players ID.
I am very proud to say that it is a ‘Top-Class’ music game in Japan for sure.

And finally, CHUNITHM is going to start its service in other Asia areas.

> What is CHUNITHM SUPERSTAR?

To be honest, we planned to operate CHUNITHM in Japan only when we firstly started the development of this project.
(We knew that friends in other countries will be interested in this game too. But there were just too many things that we need to consider, like company policy and others issues.)

Due to many issues that we have been facing, although we finally worked out the International Version, but there are some songs and characters that cannot be used. Unfortunately, we cannot bring the whole Japan Version directly to overseas.

Moreover, CHUNITHM has operated for more than 5 years already. For sure that the game system has become more mature and complicated throughout the updates.
So the current Japan Version is not suitable for other countries’ as the first launch.

The team has gone through a lot of discussions based on the circumstances.
We tried to take a balance so that both ‘CHUINTMH fans’ and ‘Players who are new to know about CHUNITHM’ can enjoy at the same time.
And finally, we created the ‘CHUNITHM SUPERSTAR’.

It is a version that combines the ‘CHUNITHM History’ and ‘New Elements’.

> From now on

The International Version does not have the exact same contents as Japan Version.
Same situation in maimai DX International Version.
We will observe the status and balance the operation in International Version.
We will prepare surprises from time to time and will have updates at fast pace.

Maybe the updates will be ‘too fast pace’?
I struggled while planning the details. A bit worried.
Please kindly let us know your thoughts after you have tried it out!
Your feedback will be very helpful for our development.

>Last but not least

We planned to launch CHUNITHM SUPERSTAR in summer but the plan was delayed due to COVID-19.
We deeply apologize for the long wait and thank you for your understanding on this matter.

COVID-19 not only delayed our launching schedule, it also deeply affected or still affecting the arcade centers around the world. Therefore, limited areas and stores can launch CHUNITHM SUPERSTAR currently.

If the arcade center which you visit often, does not have CHUNTHM, please support the store by playing their games. Please also share your wish with the store: ‘Hoping CHUNITHM will be available’.

If there is a nearby arcade center which has maimai DX and/or CHUNITHM, please play as many times as you can to support the store.

I truly believe that more people will know and enjoy CHUNITHM & maimai DX through your voices and action.
More importantly, to support the arcade centers by your voices and action.
Let’s enjoy arcade-music game!
SEGA will try our best to keep providing high quality arcade-music games to everyone.

It’s about time for ‘CHUNITHM SUPERSTAR’ to start its service.
Thank you for your time and supports.

Koha-D

When Mitsuyoshi had the chance to talk with Meguro at a social gathering the other day, he heard that Meguro was fond of Sega Rally‘s music.
When Mitsuyoshi received a request to create a sequel to the Chunithm song “Ikazuchi,” he proposed a collaboration with Meguro to create the music, which he had been anticipating.

Worst SEGA Accessories: Dreamcast Karaoke Unit

Quote
The Dreamcast karaoke unit is a bad accessory because it is 100% useless.
Rather than releasing karaoke software, SEGA had the unit act as a pass-through for the modem.
Owners of the device would boot up their Dreamcast, connect to the internet, download a song and enjoy.
Songs could not be saved, so they would have to be re-downloaded should the unit be shut off.

[AUDIO]

Quote
In Samba de Amigo, every day is a dance party, with and endless parade of singing, shaking and Latin music.
This carefree party atmosphere also makes Samba de Amigo one of SEGA’s quintessential summer games.
