Its well known by now that Ken Sugimori of Pokemon fame is a big fan of Phantasy Star however whats never brought up was the rumored Phantasy Star game by Game Freak.According to an interview by Sugimori in the "Ken Sugimori Works", Sega approached Game Freak with option on several MD projects, A game which used a fast food chain’s character, a Phantasy Star sequel, or a Magical Taruruto game. Magical Taruruto was ultimately picked.If Phantasy Star was chosen, PSIV would've been a completely different game developed by Gamefreak. The "fast food chain mascot" project may have been picked up by Treasure (McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure).While not confirmed Eevee shares design similarities with Phantasy Star's Myau. Fujiwara and Sugimori worked at Gamefreak during their fling with SEGA so it wouldn't be shocking if they picked up some inspiration. If true this would mean Tails and Eevee share the same ancestral design lineage.
